INTERIOR TRIM
CAUTION : Disconnect the negative battery cable before removing or installing any electrical unit or when a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with exposed electrical terminals. Disconnecting this cable will help prevent personal injury and damage to the vehicle. The ignition must also be in LOCK unless otherwise noted.

ON­VEHICLE SERVICE FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL
Tools Required KM­475­B Trim Remover

Removal Procedure
1. 2. 3. Lower the front window. Pry off the inside door handle trim bezel. Remove the rear deck lid remote switch and the power window/mirror control switch.

Disconnect the electrical connectors. Remove the door trim panel screws. Pry off the trim panel using the trim remover KM­475­B.

Installation Procedure
1. 2. 3. Install the trim panel. Connect the electrical connectors. Install the rear deck lid remote switch and the power window/mirror control switch.

4. Install the door trim panel screws.

Tighten
5. 6. Tighten the door trim panel screws to 2.5 NSm (22 lb­ in). Install the inside door handle trim bezel. Raise the front window.

REAR DOOR TRIM PANEL
Tools Required KM­475­B Trim Remover

Removal Procedure
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Lower the rear window. Pry off the inside door handle trim bezel. Remove the power window control switch. Disconnect the power window control switch electrical connector. Remove the door trim panel screws. Pry off the trim panel using the trim remover KM­475­B.

Installation Procedure
1. 2. 3. 4. Install the trim panel. Connect the power window control switch electrical connector, if equipped. Install the power window control switch.. Install the door trim panel screws.

Tighten
Tighten the door trim panel screws to 2.5 NSm(22 lb­ in). 5. 6. Install the inside door handle trim bezel. Raise the rear window.

A­PILLAR TRIM PANEL
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the A­pillar trim panel.

1. Install the A­pillar trim panel.

UPPER B­PILLAR TRIM PANEL
Removal Procedure
1. 2. 3. 4. Remove the lower B­pillar trim panel. Refer to "Lower B­Pillar Trim Panel" In this Section. Remove the bolt and the upper front seat belt anchor. Reposition the upper portion of the lower B­pillar trim panel. Pry off the upper B­pillar trim panel.

Installation Procedure
1. 2. 3. Install the upper B­pillar trim panel. Install the upper portion of the lower B­pillar trim panel to its original position. Install the upper front seat belt anchor with the bolt.

Tighten
4. Tighten the seat belt anchor bolt to 38 NSm (28 lb­ft). Install the lower B­pillar trim panel. Refer to "Lower B­Pillar Trim Panel" In this Section.

LOWER B­PILLAR TRIM PANEL
Removal Procedure
1. Reposition the rear portion of the front rocker trim panel and the front portion of the rear rocker trim panel. Remove the lower B­pillar trim panel.

1. 2. Install the lower B­pillar trim panel. Install the front rocker trim panel and the rear rocker trim panel to their original positions.

C­PILLAR TRIM PANEL
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the C­pillar trim panel.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the C­pillar trim panel.

DECK LID SILL PLATE COVER
Removal Procedure
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Lower the rear seatback. Remove the C­pillar trim panel. Remove the rear seat belts. Refer to Section 8A, Seat Belts. Remove the child seat anchorage. Refer to Section 9H, Child Seat Anchorage. Remove the plastic retaining clips and the deck lid sill plate cover.

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Install the rear deck lid sill plate cover with the plastic retaining clips. Install the child seat anchorage. Refer to Section 9H, Child Seat Anchorage. Install the rear seat belts. Refer to Section 9A, Seat Belts. Install the C­pillar trim panel. Install the rear seat. Refer to Section 9H, Seats.

FRONT ROCKER TRIM PANEL
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the front rocker trim panel.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the front rocker trim panel.

REAR ROCKER TRIM PANEL
Removal Procedure
1. 2. Reposition the rear seat cushion. Remove the rear rocker trim panel.

FRONT WHEELHOUSE TRIM
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the screws and the front wheelhouse trim.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the front wheelhouse trim with the screws.

REAR WHEELHOUSE TRIM
Removal Procedure
1. 2. 3. Remove the rear seat. Refer to Section 9H, Seats. Remove the seat belt bolt. Remove the screws and the rear wheelhouse trim.

1. 2. 3. Install the rear wheelhouse trim with the screws. Install the seat belt bolt. Install the rear seat. Refer to Section 9H, Seats.

FLOOR CONSOLE
Removal Procedure
1. 2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the screw from the rear portion of the floor console.

Remove the screws from the front portion of the floor console. Remove the floor console. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

Installation Procedure
1. 2. 3. Connect the electrical connectors. Install the floor console. Install the front portion of the floor console with the screws.

4. 5. 6. 7. Install the screws to the rear portion of the floor console. Connect the negative battery cable. Install the glove box, instrument panel lower cover, cigar lighter trim panel and stereo cassette player. Install the console cover.

FLOOR CARPET
Removal Procedure
1. 2. 3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Section 9H, Seats. Remove the left and the right rear rocker trim panels. Refer to "Rear Rocker Trim Panel" in this section. Remove the bolts and the left and the right lower front seat belt anchors from the B­pillar.

Remove the left and the right front rocker trim panels. 6. Remove the left and the right lower B­pillar trim panels. Refer to "Lower B­Pillar Trim Panel" in this section. 7. Remove the front seats. Refer to Section 9H, Seats. 8. Remove the left and the right kick panels. Refer to "Kick Panel" in this section. 9. Remove the floor console. Refer to "Floor Console" in this section. 10. Remove the gearshift housing bolts and nuts and reposition the gearshift housing. 11. Remove the floor carpet.

Installation Procedure
1. 2. Install the floor carpet. Install the gearshift housing with the bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the gearshift housing bolts and nuts to 8 NSm (70 lb­in).

3. 4. 5. 6. Install the floor console. Refer to "Floor Console" in this section. Install the left and the right kick panels. Refer to "Kick Panel" in this section. Install the front seats. Refer to Section 9H, Seats. Install the left and the right lower B­pillar trim panels. Refer to "Lower B­Pillar Trim Panel" in this section. Install the left and the right front rocker trim panels. Install the left and the right lower front seat belt anchors to the B­pillar with the bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the seat belt anchor bolts to 38 NSm (28 lb­ft). Install the left and the right rear rocker trim panels. Refer to "Rear Rocker Trim Panel" in this section. 10. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Section 9H, Seats. 11. Connect the negative battery cable. 9.

LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT REAR LOW COVER
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the clips and the rear panel cover.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the rear panel cover with the clips.

LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT WHEELHOUSE TRIM PANEL
Tools Required KM­475­B Trim Remover

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the luggage compartment rear panel cover. Refer to "Luggage Compartment Rear Panel Cover" in this section. Remove the plastic retaining clips using the trim remover KM­475­B and reposition the luggage compartment rear trim panel.

Installation Procedure
1. 2. Install the wheelhouse trim panel with the plastic clips. Install the luggage compartment rear panel cover. Refer to "Luggage Compartment Rear Panel Cover" in this section.

DRIVER'S SIDE KNEE BOLSTER
Removal Procedure
1. 2. 3. Remove the screws. Separate the hood release cable from the hood latch release handle. Carefully pull the instrument panel under cover until the mounting clips are released and the instrument panel under cover.

Remove the bolts from the driver's side knee bolster. Remove the knee bolster.

INTERIOR TRIM 9G ­ 13 Installation Procedure
1. Install the knee bolster with the bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the driver's side knee bolster mounting bolts to 10 NSm (89 lb­in).

Install the instrument panel under cover. Connect the hood release cable to the hood latch release handle. Install the screws.

HATCHBACK DOOR LOWER GARNISH MOLDING
Tools Required KM­475­B Trim Remover

Removal Procedure
1. 2. Open the hatchback door. Remove the hatchback door upper garnish molding. Refer to "Hatchback Door upper garnish Molding" in this section. Remove the lower garnish molding clips using the trim remover KM­475­B. Remove the lower garnish molding.

Installation Procedure
1. 2. 3. Install the lower garnish molding with the clips. Install the hatchback door upper garnish molding. Close the hatchback door.

HATCHBACK DOOR UPPER GARNISH MOLDING
Removal Procedure
1. 2. Open the hatchback door. Pry off the hatchback door upper garnish molding.

Installation Procedure
1. 2. Install the hatchback door upper garnigh moling. Close the hatchback door.

LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT WHEELHOUSE TRIM PANEL (HATCHBACK)
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the luggage compartment rear trim panel. Refer to "Luggage Compartment Rear Trim Panel" in this section. Remove the clips and the screw. Remove the wheelhouse trim panel.

Installation Procedure
Notice : Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each other may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use the correct fasteners to prevent premature corrosion. 1. Install the wheelhouse trim panel with the clips the screw. 2. Install the luggage compartment rear trim panel. Refer to "Luggage Compartment Rear Trim Panel" in this section.

LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT REAR TRIM PANEL
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the plastic retaining clips and the rear trim panel.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND SYSTEM OPERATION
INTERIOR TRIM PANELS
The interior trim panels are molded plastic and fasten with screws or plastic clips.

contains the cigar lighter and the transaxle shift lever. The rear portion of the console contains the parking brake lever, a cupholder, a storage compartment, and an ashtray for the rear seat occupants. The sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) for the airbag system and the remote keyless entry module are located under the console.

PRESSURE RELIEF VENT
When all the windows are closed and the ventilation system is on, the addition of outside air to the interior of the vehicle causes a positive pressure within the vehicle. To relieve the pressure, air is released through a pressure relief vent. The pressure relief vents are located at the rear quarter of the vehicle, behind the bumper fascia.

FLOOR CARPET
The one­piece floor carpet goes over both the front and the rear floor pans.

REAR COMPARTMENT SECURITY COVER (HATCHBACK)
A rear compartment security cover is provided on the hatchback model. The security cover is attached to the hatch and can be easily removed if more cargo space is needed.

FLOOR CONSOLE
The floor console fits over the tunnel in the floor of the vehicle and extends from under the center of the instrument panel to the rear seat area. The front portion of the console
