Welcome
Thank you,
for choosing a Loewe product. We are happy to have you as a new customer. At Loewe we combine the highest demands on technology, design and user friendliness. This applies equally to TV, video and accessories. Neither the technology nor the design shall be an end in themselves but shall rather provide our customers with the highest possible viewing and listening pleasure. With the design, we have not let ourselves be guided by short-lived fashionable trends. After all, you have purchased a high-quality appliance which you don't want to get tired of looking at tomorrow or the day after. About the appliance We have designed the TV so that you can operate it easily with the aid of menus. When you need operating information, simply fade in the info texts with the i-key and you will quickly understand the connections. You will find the answers to many technological questions in your TV's index. As far as the operation of the TV set is concerned, you can call up a function directly from the index. There is then no need to read detailed operating instructions and therefore only the most important operating steps are explained in these operating instructions. You can control three Loewe appliances with the remote control; in addition to this TV set, a video recorder and a Loewe DVD player.

Equipment of the TV sets
The maximum equipment is described in this operating manual. Functions marked F are not contained in all sets. The illustrated menu contents may vary depending on the equipment of the set. You can find out about the equipment of your TV set under Main Information - Technical spec. of TV set.

Disposal
Packaging and box You have chosen a technically very high-quality, long-life product. For disposal of the packaging we have paid a fee, in accordance with German legislation, to a contract recycling company who will collect the packaging from the dealer. However, we still suggest that you keep the original box and packaging material so that the appliance can be transported with optimum protection if necessary. The appliance Discuss the environmentally friendly disposal of the TV set with your dealer.

Installation and Cleaning
Vitros television sets have recessed grips on the left and right sides at the front. Hold the set by these grips when carrying it; do not carry it by the base, since this can damage the grille. Place the TV in a location with space for ventilation. Please note that, because of the weight of the television set, its feet may leave impressions on furniture made from soft wood (e.g. spruce, fir, pine). Sliding the television set along a surface will also leave marks. The plastic material of the feet contains plasticisers which occasionally may etch the surfaces of furniture. In such cases, use a pressure-resistant mat that is approximately the same size as the base area of the television set. Please note and follow the safety instructions on the following pages. Make sure the quality of the picture is not impaired by reflections of bright light or sunlight. Clean the TV set and the remote control with a damp, soft, clean cloth (without any aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents).

46

For your own safety ...
For your own safety and to prevent any unnecessary damage to your television set, please read and take note of the following safety precautions: · This television set is only intended for the receiving and reproduction of sound and image signals. · This television set has been designed for use in homes and offices and should not be used in rooms with a high air humidity (e.g. bathroom, sauna) or where there is a lot of dust (e.g. workshops). If, in exceptional cases, the set is to be used outdoors, ensure that it is protected from moisture (rain, splashes or dew). High levels of moisture and high concentrations of dust will cause leak currents in the set. This can result in a risk of electrical shock and may also present a fire risk. The manufacturer's warranty is only valid for use in the permitted environments, as stated. · This set may only be connected to a power supply that has the voltage and frequency stated on the type plate. It may only be connected to the power supply using the power cable provided. Incorrect voltages may damage the set. · If the set is brought from a cold environment into a warm room, all its components will become damp (with condensation). Moisture will cause leak currents, which may result in a fire. In such cases, do not switch on the set until it has had enough time to warm up (when the mist has cleared from the screen). · Like all electronic equipment, your television set requires air to cool it. If the air supply is restricted, this may result in a fire. Under no circumstances should you cover the air vents on the back of the set. Do not place any newspapers or covers on the television. The air supply will also be impaired if the television is placed on a bedspread or thickpile carpet. · Ensure that no metal parts, needles, paperclips, liquids, wax or similar products get into the inside of the set through the ventilation slots in the back. This will cause short circuits, which may then cause a fire. If something should get into the set, switch the set off immediately using the on/off switch, pull the plug out and contact customer services to get the set checked.

5 cm

5 cm

5 cm

If the set is to be placed in a cupboard or on a shelf, gaps of at least 5 cm at the sides and 10 cm at the top must be left to ensure good air circulation. Do not place your set in direct sunlight or anywhere where it is likely to be exposed to additional heat from heaters.

Do not place any burning candles, flower vases filled with water, etc on the television set.

47

· Under no circumstances should you remove the back of the television set yourself. The set operates at extremely dangerous high voltages. Have your television set repaired and serviced only by authorised television technicians. · Because of their tubes, the centre of gravity of television sets is located far forwards. As a result, the television has a tendency to tip forwards relatively easily. This can cause injury. Only place your television set on level, stable surface. Ensure that the set can stand on all feet. The television set should not jut out at the front, particularly when installed in cupboards or on shelves. When placing the set on a stand, ensure that the stand is larger than the base area of the set. When using revolving or extending bases, ensure that the load-carrying capacity of the bases is sufficient for this purpose.

· Do not put the television set in a position where it will be subjected to vibrations. Vibrations will place excessive stress on the materials. · Do not leave the set unattended when it is switched on. · In thunderstorms, disconnect the aerial and the mains plug. Voltage surges from lightning strikes may damage the set through both the aerial and the mains power supply. Disconnect the aerial and the mains plug if you are also going away for a long time. · The television set's mains plug must be easy to reach so that the set can be disconnected from the mains at any time. If possible only use original accessories, such as Loewe racks and stands. If the television set is on a mobile console, move the console carefully otherwise both the console and the set may tip over. Mobile consoles can markedly reduce the stability of equipment placed on them. Therefore only use mobile consoles that have been tested and are intended for use with the set. Do not allow children to operate the set unsupervised. Do not allow children to play in the immediate vicinity of the television set. The television may be tipped over, moved or pulled from its stand and may cause injury. · The mains cable should be laid where it cannot get damaged. The mains cable should not be bent, laid over sharp edges, walked over or exposed to any chemicals; the latter also applies to the entire set. If the insulation on the mains cable has been damaged, this may cause electric shocks and also presents a fire risk. · When pulling out the mains plug, hold the plug housing, do not pull on the cable. Otherwise the cable in the plug may be damaged and cause a short circuit the next time it is plugged in.

Daily Use
Switching On/Off
Your TV set is equipped with an eco-standby power supply unit. The power consumption in standby operation drops to below 1 Watt. This means using 30% less energy than with conventional appliances. If you want to save even more energy, switch off the TV with the On/Off key. This disconnects the TV from the mains. If the TV is switched on, you can switch it to standby with the blue On/Off key on the remote control. The red standby indicator on the set lights up. If the green indicator is also lit up, a timer recording has been programmed or Sat radio is activated. From the standby mode it is best to switch on again with the blue On/Off key or with a number key (channel 0 - 9). The green operating indicator then lights up. If you switch off the TV with the On/Off key on the set, none of the indicators are lit up any more. Switch on the TV with the On/ Off key on the set if it is switched off.
