Subject: Updating the Firmware of "Rhapsody" function via DPMS. (Denon
Product Management Server)


Symptom: 1) Installing of "Rhapsody" function.
2) When it was not possible to update the unit because while updating an
accidental power failure occurred, the internet connection failed etc.

Solution: The firmware has been corrected so no malfunction occurs.
Flow of update of the new firmware.
1) The customers noticed that A/V product happen a software problem.
2) The customers call to service distributor.
3) Service distributors check the firmware which is available on SDI.
4) If the customers have internet environment, the customers can update their
A/V product via DPMS (Denon Product Management Server) at any time by
Instruction Manual. Please instruct the "Preparation of the update" to the
customers.
5) If the customers do not have an internet environment or the customers is not
have ability or knowledge, the customers send product to service distributor as
usual. The Service distributor updates the firmware using this scheme in service
bench.

METHOD OF UPDATE via DPMS (Denon Product Management Server)
Updating the firmware (from Rhapsody function)
1) Please pull out the AC cable from the AC strip. (Turn the Power Supply of the
unit off.)

2) Connect the Ethernet terminal of the unit to the Network line by Ethernet
straight cable. (Don't use Ethernet cross cable.) The connection of the network
recommends the Ethernet cable for certain update.
3) Please insert the AC cable into the AC strip. (Turn the Power Supply of the
unit on.)
4) Turn on the Power of unit by "FUNCTION on/off" button.
5) The unit connects the Internet. It wishes waiting for about two minutes until
customer's router ends the setting.

Caution: The update doesn't succeed when the customer's unit cannot connect
to the Internet correctly. In this case, please confirm the internet environment of
the customer house. Whether it is able receive the Internet radio or not can be
used to determine whether the Internet is properly connected. There are some
problems under the internet environment when the Internet radio cannot be
received.

6) Either turn "Multi Jog" or press "SKIP REV/SKIP FWD" after pressing
"SOURCE" to select "Rhapsody" icon then press "ENTER".
7) Turn "Multi Jog" to select "I have a Rhapsody account" then press
"ENTER".
8) The firmware will start updating.
9) Time necessary for update: approximately 30 min.
10) During the updating, the LCD Display indicates the following procedure of
updating the firmware.

Note: If the display reads as shown below, check the settings and network
environment, then update again. The problem is not in the Internet connection if
the Internet radio can be received correctly.

Cautions during the updating operation:
1) Please do not turn off the setting of "DHCP" when you update the unit.
(Initialization is turning on.) Please execute it under the guidance of the IT staff
with computer skills when the setting of "DHCP" is unavoidably turned off by
limiting the electronic environment, and you set IP Address, the subnet mask, the
default gateway, and DNS, etc. for myself. When it makes a mistake in the
setting with "DHCP" turned off, the unit might not operate, and the worst situation

the unit can be damaged. Please do not touch the setting of "DHCP" except in
special circumstances.
2) When the customer uses "Netgear router 614 Series" for updating, you have
to deactivate "uPnP" in the router.
3) Please do not turn off the Power of the unit or pull out AC code during the
updating operation.
4) If the Display has kept indicating fixed display during the updating operation,
wait longer than total updating time. Then, turn off the Power of the unit and start
the updating operation from the beginning again.

Confirming the firmware's number after upgrade:
After completion of the updating operation, the new version number can be
confirmed by starting up the unit according to the following procedure. With the
following operation, the unit can be set to the Flash-ROM Version-Number
Confirmation Mode.

1) Please pull out the AC cable from the AC strip. (Turn the Power Supply of the
unit off.)
2) Please insert the AC cable into the AC strip (Turn the Power Supply of the unit
on.), while holding both "DIMMER" button and "SKIP REV" button on the front
panel simultaneously.
3) Turn on the Power of unit by "FUNCTION on/off" button.
4) Pressing the "SOURCE" button.
5) Either turn "Multi Jog" or press "SKIP REV/SKIP FWD" to select "SETUP"
icon then press "ENTER".
6) Turn "Multi Jog" to Select "Version Display" then press "ENTER".
7) The version of Firmware is indicated.

the following order.
