IMS/VS is a control system that has been developed to
improve the computer user's ability to implement tele-
processing and/or batch-type data processing applications.
Its development is within the framework of Operating
System/Virtual Storage.
This manual includes a general description of the system
and its various facilities and programs, listings of typical
and minimum configurations, and sample applications.
First Edition (January 1973)
This edition applies to Version 1, Modification Level 0, of the program product Information Management
System/Virtual Storage (lMS/VS) (5740-XX2) and to all subsequent versions and modifications until
otherwise indicated in new editions or Technical Newsletters.
Changes are continually made to the information herein. Therefore, before using this publication,
consult the latest System/370 SRL Newsletter (GN20-0360) for the editions that are applicable
and current.
