MANUAL DEFINITION

The following general description of manuals, operator guides
and h3ndbooks is provided to al low the catalog user to more
quickly identify categorically, the type of book he requires.
With this information the user can then relate more easily to
the section of this catalog which contains the required manual.

Hardware Reference Manual - This manual provides functional and
operational descriptions and general programming capabil ity infor-
mation on Control Data hardware products and systems. This manual
is written to the level of a knowledgeable prospective customer,'
professional programmer, and equipment operator.
Customer Engineering Manual Or Hardware Maintenance Manual - This
manual provides the technical information necessary to maintain
Control Data hardware products. Categories of information presented,
in one or. more volumes, are: General Description, Operation and
Programming, Installation and Checkout, Theory of Operation, Diagrams,
Maintenance, Maintenance Aids, Parts Data, Wire Lists, and Equation
Summary {or equivalent}.
Hardware Reference/Customer Engineering Manual Or Hardware Referencel
Maintenance Manual - This combined manual, usually for less complex
devices th3t require minim31 progr3mming information, contains the
same information as that in separate Reference and Customer Engineer-
ing manuals.
Site Preparation Manual - This manual presents technical information
with 'which to plan ahd prepare sites for computer installation.
Three sections make up this manu31:
Section I: General Information - Two Section I manuals
are available: One for small systems~ the other covers
large and medium-scale systems.
Section II: System Information - Section II manuals cover
site planning information for specific systems~ e.g.,
3300, 6400, etc.

Section III: Peripheral Eguipment - Section III provides
site planning data on all Control Data peripheral equipment.
Hardware Diagnostic Reference Manyal - This manual provides a
functional description and detailed operating instructions for
diagnostic programs.
System Operator~s Manyal - This manual provides operating instruc-
tions to the system operator. Instructions in this manual normally
include system start-up, message formats, error recovery procedures,
and general system information. This manual is written to the level
of computer operators who do not have a detailed knowledge of pro-
gramming.

System Reference Manual - This manual describes the system in
terms of function, appl ications, and capabil ities. Provides a
configuration of the hardware that makes up the system with a brief
description of the system function of each product. May also i~
elude a description of the software available with the system.
Written to the level of the prospective customer who does not have
a detailed knowledge of either the hardware or software.

Software General Information Manual - This manual provides intro-
ductory descriptions of functional and operat'onal characteristics
of Control Data software products.

Software Reference Manual - This manual provides complete descrip-
tions of external functional and operational characteristics 0&
Control Data software products.

Software Operator~s Guide - This manual provides detai led instruc-
tions for operating Controi Data software systems.

Software Diagnostic Handbook - This manual provides the messages
issued by al r programs In a software product set, together with the
recommended action.

Software Instal latjon Handbook - This manual provides installation
and modification instructions for Control Data software products.

Software User~s Guide - This manual provides the layman with the
instructions on how to use a software product.

Software Instant Manyal - This pocket-size manual provides summary
information {deck structures, etc.} for system programmers and
operators of software systems.

LITERATURE ORDERING POLICY AND PROCEDURES

Please read these policies and procedures prior to ordering to avoid
confusion and mistakes and also to expedite the handl ing of orders.
PURCHASE ORDERS - Orders directed to LDS should include, if possible,
a numbered purchase order, a money order or personal check.

DOMESTIC ORDERS - Al I purchase orders from domestic customers should
be forwarded directlv to:

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS - International customer orders should be
directed to the nearest Control Data Sales Office. The Control Data
Sales Offi~e wil I then process your order through LDS.
PRICING - The prices contained in this catalog for domestic customers
~ and are subject to change without notice.
FOB - All prices are F.O.8. Destination. Premium freight such as air
freight will be invoiced as a separate item.
TERMS: NET 30 DAYS
SHIPPING REQUIREMENTS - Shipping instructions as given by the customer
will be followed whenever possible. However, when the instructions
cannot be adhered to, LDS reserves the right to determine the mode of
transportation.
PRICE QUOTES - Price quotes are available upon request and are val id
for 30 days only.
TELEPHONE ORDERS - LDS will accept telephone orders but each order
must reference a purchase order number. A purchase order must follow
