Agilent 3458A Option 001
Installation Note
Introduction
This document provides the procedure for installing the extended memory option 001 retrofit kit 03458-87901
(four RAM ICs, p/n 1818-3981) onto the controller assembly for a standard 3458A, serial number US2803151 and
below. This converts the standard 03458-66505 controller assembly to 03458-66515. For a standard 3458A, serial
number US2803152 and greater, do not use this kit. Use extended memory kit 03458-87902 instead for such units.
CAUTION
Use safe, anti-static handling techniques when installing the four RAM ICs. See the Agilent
3458A Assembly-Level Repair Manual for further details.

WARNING
The screw removed in step 3 MUST be re-installed to provide ground continuity to the cover. Failure to
install this screw can allow voltages to be present on the cover, that under certain conditions could cause
bodily injury or death.
