1. HEADLIGHTS OPERATION AND AIM
· Headlights operation ­ lights on/off Twist the knob on the end of the combination switch lever, and check for the function of headlight. 1) OFF position All lights are off. 2) position Parking, tail, license plate and instrument panel lights are illuminated. 3) position Headlight (low beam) and all the above lights are illuminated. 4) Head lamp warning chime bell(Option) Chime bell sounds when the light switch turned on and the ignition switch was in "LOCK" or " ACC " position. ­ high beam switch Push the light switch lever towards the instrument panel with the low beam head lights on ( ). Check for the function of high beam switch. Headlight high beam indicator in the instrument panel lights up when the headlights are on high beam. Pull the lever back to the normal position and check for the function of low beam head lights. ­ passing light switch Pull the light switch lever to the direction of driver's seat and check that passing light flashes.

­ day time running light(option) Check if parking, tail, license plate and instrument panel lights illuminate when ignition switch is ON position with the light switch off. And check if the head lights(low beam) also come on when the engine is started. They remain on until the ignition switch is turned off or the light switch is turned on.

· Headlight aim ­ Check the headlight aim. 1) Place the vehicle on a level floor. 2) Bounce the front suspension several times. 3) Rock the vehicle sideways several times then allow the vehicle to assume its normal position. 4) Clean the headlight lenses and check the headlight aim. · Headlight levelling switch (option) ­ Check the operation of the headlight levelling switch. 0 = Front seat occupied 1 = All seat occupied 2 = Driver's seat occupied and load in the luggage compartment 3 = All seats occupied and load in the luggage compartment

2. TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS
· Move turn signal switch up or down to the stop position to engage turn signals, and check for turn signal lights on. · When the turn is completed, the signal will cancel and the lever will return to the normal position.

3. HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS
· Push the hazard warning flashes switch, and check that all turn signal lamps flash simultaneously. · Shorter flashes indicate the failure of lamp bulbs. · Push this switch again to turn them off.

4. BACK-UP LIGHTS
· Select the gear shift lever to "R" position, and check for the lightening of back-up lights.

5. STOP LIGHTS
· Foot the brake pedal, and check for the lightening of lower side of stop lights located in the rear combination lamp assembly. · Foot the brake pedal, and check for the lightening of center high mounted stop lamp (option) located in the tailgate.

6. TAIL LIGHTS, POSITION LIGHTS, LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS, ADDITIONAL TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS
· Turn the light switch to position, and check for the lightening of tail, license plate, position lights, and additional turn signal lights.

7. INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING LAMPS AND INDICATORS
Check for the operation of warning lights in instrument panel. (Ignition switch is in the "ON" position)

· Brake system warning lamp Comes on when the parking brake is applied. If this light comes on even when the parking brake is completely released, it may indicate that the brake fluid in the reservoir is low. · Engine oil pressure warning lamp Comes on when the ignition is switched on and goes out after the engine is started. If the light comes on while driving, it indicates that the oil pressure is dangerously low.

· Charging system warning lamp Comes on when the ignition is switched on and should go out when the engine is started. · Malfunction indicator lamp Illuminates when the ignition is switched on and goes out shortly after the engine is running. If the indicator illuminates during normal running, a fault has occurred. · Coolant temperature waring lamp Comes on when the engine coolant has over-heated. · Turn signal/hazard warning flasher Flashes to indicate operation of the external turn signal or hazard warning flasher. · High beam indicator Illuminates when the headlight high beam is switched on. · Door open warning lamp Comes on when a door is either opened or not closed completely. · Safety belt reminder Comes on when the driver does not fasten the safety belt. · Low fuel level warning lamp Comes on when the quantity of fuel in fuel tank is below approx. 7.5L. · Selector lever position indicator (option) Shows the shift position which the selector lever is in. · ABS warning lamp (option) Illuminates when the ignition is switched on and goes out after about 2 seconds. If this light illuminates while driving, a malfunction of ABS is indicated. · Airbag warning lamp (option) Flashes several times when the ignition is switched on and goes out. If this light illuminates or flashes while driving, a malfunction of airbag system is indicated. · Power mode indicator (option) Illuminates whenever the ignition key is turned to "ON" and goes out. Also this indicator illuminates when power mode switch is pushed. If this indicator illuminates while driving without the switch being pressed, a fault in the automatic transmission is indicated. · Hold mode indicator (option) Illuminates when the ignition key is turned to "ON" and goes out. Also this indicator illuminates when hold mode switch is pushed. · Front fog lamp indicator (option) Comes on when the front fog lamps are turned on. · Rear fog lamp indicator (option) Comes on when the rear fog lamps are turned on.

· TCS operation indicator (option) Illuminates when the ignition is ON and goes out after about 3 seconds along with the ABS warning lamp. The TCS operation indicator blinks when traction control is working.

· TCS warning lamp (option) Illuminates when the ignition is ON and goes out after about 3 seconds along with the ABS warning lamp. The TCS warning lamp illuminates to indicate that the system is not working because: - there is a malfunctioning in the system or, - you have canceled the system by pressing the TCS ON/ OFF button.

· SSPS warning lamp (option) Comes on when the ignition is ON and goes out after about 3 seconds.

8. DOME AND COURTESY LIGHTS
Check for the function of center dome lamp and front map light, · Center dome lamp The lamp should operate as follows. ­ "ON" position : Always comes on and stays on.
OFF ON

­ "OFF" position : The light remains off even when a door is opened. ­ Set the switch to "DOOR" position(between "ON" and "OFF"), and check that the light comes on when a door is opened. · Front map light Check that the lamp on and off when the button is pushed.

9. GLOVE BOX ILLUMINATION(OPTION)
Check that the glove box is illuminated when the lid is in the open position with the ignition switch placed in "ON" position.

10. HEADLAMP LEVELING SWITCH(OPTION)
With the low beam switched on, adjust head lamp range to suit the vehicle load. 0 = Front seat occupied 1 = All seats occupied 2 = Driver's seat occupied and load in the luggage compartment 3 = All seats occupied and load in the luggage compartment

11. INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGE OPERATION
Check for the operation of the following instrument panel gauges. · Fuel gauge Indicates the level of fuel remaining in the fuel tank. When the fuel is added, the gauge slowly changes to the new fuel level after the ignition is turned on. · Temperature gauge Indicates the temperature of engine coolant when the ignition switch is in the "ON" position.

12. FRONT FOG LAMP SWITCH(OPTION)
Check for the function of the front fog lamp with pushing the front fog lamp button when the light switch is turned on.

13. REAR FOG LAMP SWITCH(OPTION)
Push this switch while the front fog lamps are tuned on, or while the light switch is placed in the second ( ) position and check for the function of the rear fog lamp.

14. REAR WINDOW AND OUTSIDE MIRROR DEMISTER BUTTON
· Without timer Push this switch when the ignition switch is in the "ON" position and check the function. The rear window demister indicator in the switch illuminates when the rear window demister is operating. Push the switch again to thrn the demister off. · With timer (option) Pushing the switch, the rear window demister automatically goes out after approx. 10 minutes.

15. INSTRUMENT ILLUMINATION CONTROL SWITCH(OPTION)
Check if the brightness of instrument illumination is adjustable by turning the knurled knob.

16. HORN SWITCH
Press the center of the steering wheel(without driver's airbag), or far right or left of the steering wheel(with driver's airbag) and check the function of the horn.

17. WIPER AND WASHER OPERATION
· Windshield wiper switch Check that the wipers operate smoothly after moving the lever upwards with the ignition on. OFF = off INT = intermittent wiper operation ­ Move the lever upwards to the INT location with the ignition on and choose the desired speed of the wipers by turning the band marked LO = continuous wipe, slow speed HI = continuous wipe, fast speed ­ Misting function To operate the wipers once, lightly move the lever towards the INT position and release it. · Windshield washer switch Pull the lever towards the steering wheel for less than about 0.6 seconds and check if the washer fluid is sprayed onto the windshield with the windshield wipers not being operated. When you pull the lever for more than about 0.6 seconds, the washer fluid is sprayed onto the windshield while you pull the lever and then the windshield wipers are operated for several cycles.

· Automatic wipe with rain sensor (option) Check that the wipers operate smoothly during pouring water to near the top of windshield (rain sensor field) when the ignition switch is turned ON in AUTO position.

18. TAILGATE WINDOW WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH(OPTION)
Push lever away from steering wheel and check the function; First position(rest position) = continuous wiper action at slow speed. Second position(rocker position) = wiper and washer · Intermittent and auto control (option, TACUMA / REZZO only) Check that the rear wiper operates intermittently in the first position and that it operates automatically when the reverse gear is selected while the front wiper is operating.

19. RADIO/CASSETTE, SPEAKERS, ANTENNA (OPTION)
Audio Systems (option) Check for the operation of radio/cassette, speakers, antenna. Remote Control (option) Check for the operation of remote control on the steering wheel. 20. CUP HOLDER
Check the cup holder located below the climate control panel by pushing its lid. After checking, push it back in firmly until it latches.

21. CIGARETTE LIGHTER
Check the operation of the cigarette lighter. Push the lighter in with the ignition switch in the "ACC" or "ON" position. It will automatically pop out when it becomes heated. NOTE: If the lighter does not pop out within 30 seconds, pull it out and check it.

22. CLOCK
Check the operation of the clock by pressing the following button with ignition switch in the "ON" position. · H : Hour adjusting button Press this button to adjust the hour digits · M : Minute adjusting button Press this button to adjust the minute digits · S : To reset the time by the time signal, press this button. For example, if this button is pressed while the time is between 8:00 and 8:29 the display is set to 8:00. 23. DOOR LOCK
Check doors being locked or unlocked from outside by using the key. All doors can be locked or unlocked from the inside by pushing or pulling the door lock buttons located in the inside door catch. The lock button on the driver's door cannot be pushed when the door is open, thus preventing the driver from being inadvertently locked out.

· Central door locking system (option) All doors and the tailgate(option) can be simultaneously locked or unlocked when the driver's door is locked or unlocked. · Child security door locks Check if the rear door cannot be opened from the inside when the metal latch beneath the lock on either of the rear doors is pushed upwards.

24. DOOR WINDOW
Check the operation of the door windows. Manual windows Rotate the window regulator handle in the door panel.

Power windows (option) Operate the power window switches on each door trim when the ignition switch is in "ON" position. To lower the window, keep the top part of the switch pressed. To raise the window, keep the top part of the switch lifted up. When the window reaches the desired position, release it. · Window lock switch (option) If this switch is pressed, all door windows are operated only by driver's door window switches. To deactive, press the switch again.

25. OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRRORS
Check the operation of the adjusting switch located on the driver's door panel.

26. TILTABLE STEERING WHEEL(OPTION)
Check the operation of tiltable steering wheel. · It can be adjusted by pushing the control lever under the steering column toward instrument panel, and then pulling the lever back.

27. POWER SUN ROOF(OPTION)
Operate the switch located on the right of the room lamp, between the sun visors, with the ignition "ON". · Sliding the sun roof To open, press the right part of the switch and hold it. To close, press the left part of the switch and hold it. When the sun roof reaches the desired position, release it.

· Tilting the sun roof(This switch can be operated when the sun roof is closed) To tilt up, press the left part of the switch and hold it. To close, press the right part of the switch and hold it. When the sun roof reaches the desired position, release it. Limit for rear edge Allowable and ROOF space between(0.08 inch). of SUNROOF : within ± 2mm

28. SEAT
Check the operation of seats. · Front seat slide adjustment To move the seat forwards or backwards, pull up the control lever located inboard and under the front of the seat and hold it. Then slide the seat to the desired position and release the lever.

· Front seat reclining adjustment To adjust the seat back, turn the hand wheel on the outboard side of the seat back until the desired angle is achieved. For lever type relining adjustment, pull the lever up until the desired angle is achieved.

· Driver's seat height adjustment (option) To adjust driver's seat cushion angle, turn the hand wheels either way.

· Head restraints To adjust the front and rear seat head restraint, pull it up or push it down while pressing the release button.

To tilt the front head restraint, push it forward. The head restraint is returned to it's upright position when it is pushed all the way forward.

· Seat lumbar support(option) To adjust driver's or passenger's lumbar supports, turn the handwheel on the outboard side of seat back until the desired angle is achieved.

· Power seat control switch(option) - Seat slide adjustment To move the seat forward or rearward, move the switch forward or rearward. Then, slide the seat to the desired position and release the switch.

- Seat height adjustment To adjust the height of front part of seat cushion, push the front part of the switch up or down. To adjust the height of rear part of seat cushion, push the rear part of the switch up or down. To adjust the height of entire seat cushion, push the front and rear parts of switch simultaneously up or down.

- Seat reclining adjustment To tilt the seatback forward or backward, move and hold the upper part of the switch forward or backward.

· Turning front passenger's seat (option) To turn the front passenger's seat rearwards, slide the seat fully backwards, adjust the seatback upright and turn it counter clockwise while pushing the turning lever outwards. (for RHD models, turn it clockwise)

· Arm rests (option) To use the armrests, pull the end of the armrests forward.

· Foldable seatback table (option) To use the seatback table, swing the end of the table up.

· Folding rear seat back (option) Pull the release lever on the top of each split seat back to unlock the seat back, then fold the seat back forward and down.

· Double folding rear seatback (option) Pull the strap at the rear side of each split seat cushion and lift the seat up.

Hold it using built-in hook. The length of the strap is adjustable.

· Removing rear seats (option) Fold the rear seats forward, unlock the hinges on both sides of each split seat by pushing the release lever down and lift the seat out.

· Center rear seat slide adjustment (option) (3 piece type rear seat only) Pull the lever at the front side of the seat cushion forward and hold it. Then slide the seat to the desired position and release the lever.

· Rear seat relcliming adjustment (option) (2 piece type rear seat only) To tilt the rear seatback backward, remove the back shelf, pull the release handle and adjust the seatback to the desired position.

29. FUEL FILLER DOOR RELEASE LEVER
Stop the engine and open the fuel filler door by pulling up the fuel filler door release lever located under the left side of driver's seat.

30. TRUNK LID RELEASE LEVER
Check the operation of the trunk lid release lever or button.

31. ENGINE HOOD RELEASE LEVER
To open the engine hood, pull the release handle located on left lower side of instrument panel to unlatch the engine hood.

And push the bottom of the hook to the right and lift the engine hood.

To hold the engine hood in the open position, insert the support rod into the slot provided in the underside of the engine hood.

32. THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM(OPTION)
· Immobilizer system Immobilizer system prevents the vehicle from being started by isolating the power supply to the ignition system, fuel pump and fuel injectors and it is a mechanical ignition key with integrated transponder, which is electronically coded. Check if the security indicator light comes on and goes out when the ignition is switched on. · Perimetric protection ­ Setting the system 1. Close all windows. 2. Turn the ignition key to the "LOCK" position and remove it. 3. Have all passengers get out of the vehicle. 4. Close all doors, hood and tailgate. Lock all doors by pressing the lock button on the transmitter. At this time, the turn signal lights blink once, indicating all doors are locked. 5. Confirm that the security indicator light in the right side of the digital clock start flashing. 6. The security light begins to flash once every 0.8 seconds(0.1 second : ON, 0.7 second : OFF). The system is now activated. ­ Testing the system 1. Open all the windows. 2. Set the system as described in "setting the system". The front doors should be locked with the transmitter. Be sure to wait until the security indicator light starts. 3. Unlock one of the doors using the inside door lock. Then the system should activate the alarm. 4. Cancel the system by unlocking either front door with the key or the transmitter. 5. Repeat this operation for the other doors, trunk lid and hood. When testing on the hood, also check that the system is activated when the battery terminal is disconnected and then reconnected.

33. KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM WITH ANTITHEFT FUNCTION(OPTION)
Check the operation of the keyless entry system by using the transmitter. Door lock and antitheft mode activation Press the door lock button on the transmitter and release it. LED on the transmitter flashes once. Then all the doors are locked, hazard warning` lamps flashes once with chirp sound and the antitheft mode is activated. If the ignition switch is placed in the "ON" position, the antitheft mode and hazard warning lamps do not operate. To release the antitheft mode, press the door unlock button, and release it on the transmitter or open doors by key. Door unlock and antitheft mode deactivation Press the door unlock button on the transmitter and release it. LED on the transmitter flashes once. Then all the doors are unlocked, hazard warning lamps flash twice and the antitheft mode is deactivated. But, when the ignition switch is placed in the "ON" position, the hazard warning lamps do not flash. Auto door lock If the door is not opened or the engine is not started within 30 seconds after unlocking the door with the transmitter when the vehicle is under the antitheft mode, all the doors are automatically locked and the antitheft mode is switched on. Antitheft alarm function When the vehicle is under antitheft mode, for 30 seconds the alarm sounds and the hazard warning lamps flashes in the following cases. 1. When the door is opened, not by using the transmitter or a ignition key, but by any other methods. 2. When starting the engine with a ignition key or any other methods without releasing the antitheft mode. To stop the alarm and hazard warning flasher, press any button on the transmitter.

34. SUNGLASSES HOLDER
Check that the sunglasses holder opens smoothly and that it is closed firmly. To open the sunglasses holder, push on the rear part of the cover. To close it, pull up and push it until it latches.

35. SEAT HEATER SWITCH (OPTION)
Check the operation of seat warmer by pressing the buttons with the ignition switch is in the "ON" position.
