Model: GEN-HFP No. 428
Subject: A Whistling noise is heard when playing certain Date: February 1, 1995
Discs.

Symptom:
(64) A whistling noise can be heard from the mechanical assembly. The whistling noise is
a result of vibration of the disc, optical lens, and BU base which results in an audible
resonant frequency. The following modification is applicable to all units that use the
KSS-240A optics and exhibit the audible noise.

Solution: To reduce the vibration of the BU base add the weight (P/N 4-962-979-01) to the
optical block using a +PTP2.6X8 screw (P/N 7-685-134-19) in place of the original
screw.
