Subject: Preventing Mechanism Damage During Shipping. Date: May 1, 1995


Symptom:
(**) The mechanism flex cables and/or KA2 gear may be damaged during shipping if the
mechanism is not properly locked.



Solution: 1- Install the customer's magazine into the mechanism.

2- Apply power to the system.

3- Press preset button "4", then press preset button "5", then press preset button "1"
and keep it pressed until all the segments of the display are illuminated (On the
MDX-400 the preset buttons and display are found on the in-dash portion of the
system. On the MDX-40, the preset buttons and display are found on a Unilink
equipped head unit to which the MDX-40 must be connected).

4- The mechanism will rotate to the disc number 3 position, at which point it will
move to the disc-chucked position.

5- Remove the Unilink cable from the mechansim (be careful not to press any
buttons, including the OFF button, before removing the Unilink cable to prevent the
mechanism from accidentally moving from the locked position).
