1. System Requirements

- The TDSET3 application is targeted towards DPO7000,DPO/DSA 70000,
TDS7000B/CSA7000B,TDS5000B,TDS6000/TDS6000B,TDS6000C,TDS7000/ CSA7000 series oscilloscopes.

- Report Generator Version: 3.01.000 or above
(This application will not install Report Generator . Report Generator is a common
feature shared by several applications. You can install Report Generator from the
Optional application CD. You can check the version from Report Generator Help>About.)

- Minimum amount of disk space required for the application: 240MB

- Tek Scope latest Firmware updates can be downloaded from the Tektronix website
at http://www.tek.com/Measurement/scopes/index.html. Click on
"Software & Drivers" under the "Resources" set of links on the left.

* Note that the best MS Windows (TM) task bar settings for running this
application are :
-Always on top = unchecked
-Auto Hide = unchecked

2. Features

i. 1000BASE-T PHY Compliance Testing - Templates/Droop/Peak voltage
(with (or) without disturber), JigMatch, Distortion, ReturnLoss, CM Voltage and
Jitter (filtered and unfiltered)

ii. 100BASE-TX PHY Compliance Testing - Template, Differential voltage, Rise Time
Fall Time, Amplitude Symmetry, Rise/Fall Symmetry, Waveform Overshoot,
Duty cycle distortion, Jitter and ReturnLoss.

iii. 10BASE-T PHY Compliance Testing - Templates ( with (or) without inverted),
Peak Differential Voltage, Jitter, Harmonics, ReturnLoss and CM Voltage.

iv. Automatic set up and Pass/Fail testing.

v. Mask testing (Auto-fit, Manual fit).

vi. Powerful Report Generator (Template creation, Report layout).

vii. Report Summary in comma separated value(csv) format.

3. Known Problems / Issues


i. For testing 10BAse-T MAU test using DPO/DSA 70000 Series Oscilloscope, we recommend
the use of P6330 or P7330 or P7350 probes.If the signal does not autofit the template,adjust the trigger width and the trigger level
after the 10Base-T Template user control preference dialog pops up.

ii. For 10Base-T TP_IDL test without TPM,if the signal does not autofit the template,adjust the trigger width and the trigger level
after the 10Base-T Template user control preference dialog pops up.

iii. When an RTF file is opened In Windows office XP for jitter measurement report,
the text in the table are not aligned and the screen shots are shrunk horizontally

iv. On Probe P6247, DC Reject option should be set to OFF

v. In DPO7000 scopes, the Hide button does not bring the instrument application to full
screen. Clicking anywhere in instrument Application will achieve this.

vi. For Return Loss test With AWG 710B, do not use AWG automation. Manually copy the
.SET files and .WFM files to AWG.

4. Installation

i. If the keyboard is not installed, connect it to the oscilloscope rear panel
(the optional-accessory keyboard plugs into the USB connector).

ii. Power on the oscilloscope to start Windows.

iii. Install the optional applications software CD in the CD-ROM reader
of the oscilloscope.

iv. The autorun utility will start the installation program. If the autorun
utility doesn't start up automatically, browse to the CDROM and double-click
the launch.exe.

v. Select the option 'Ethernet Compliance Test'.

vi. Select the option 'Install Now'.

vii. Follow the instructions given by the InstallShield Wizard. The oscilloscope
must reboot to complete the installation process.

viii. You will need to enter the authorized Option Installation Key to enable the
application. The key is specific to the serialized oscilloscope and options
for which it was purchased. To enter the key number, follow these steps:

a. If the oscilloscope powered on in the toolbar mode (default), select
the Menu button (upper right corner of the display) to put the
oscilloscope into menu-bar mode. In menu-bar mode you should see a
PC-style menu across the top of the display.

b. Go to the Utilities menu in the menu bar and select Option Installation.

c. Follow the on-screen instructions to enter the alphanumeric key
number exactly as it is printed on the rear-panel label.

Ethernet Compliance Test Software is now ready for use.
See "Starting the Application" section below.


Note: If TDSET2 is installed then the folder C:\TekApplications\TDSET2 should be copied
to some other location if the existing templates, layouts and report are required.
The TDSET2 application, if existing, should be uninstalled from "Add/Remove programs"
option in Control Panel (Refer to the UnInstallation section of this document for more
information) before installing TDSET3 application.

5. Starting the Application

* TDS6000/TDS7000/CSA7000/TDS5000B:
Start the application through oscilloscope menu selection
File->Run Application->Ethernet Compliance Test Software .
To restore the application, when hidden or minimized, click on the "App" button
near "Help" on the oscilloscope menu.

* TDS6000B/TDS6000C/TDS7000B/CSA7000B:
Start the application through oscilloscope menu selection
App->Ethernet Compliance Test Software .
To restore the App, when hidden or minimized, click App->Restore Application,
in the oscilloscope menu.

* DPO7000/DPO70000/DSA70000:
Start the application through oscilloscope menu selection
Analyze->Ethernet Compliance Test Software .
To restore the App, when hidden or minimized, click Analyze->Restore Application,
in the oscilloscope menu.

7. UnInstallation

i.Select Start->Settings->Control Panel from Windows.

ii.Select "Add/Remove programs".

iii.Select "Ethernet Compliance Test Software" from the list of installed softwares and
click only on the "Add/Remove" button.

NOTE: Do not double click "Ethernet Compliance Test Software" to uninstall the application. Doing so may not uninstall the report generator application from the oscilloscope.

iv.Follow the instructions given by the InstallShield Wizard.
