Subject: Unit Turns ON by itself Date: July 5, 2001
Symptom:
(2173) Two conditions which causes the unit to turn on by itself are:
1. If sleep timer is used, the set will turn on 256 minutes after the set was turned OFF.
2. Timer 2 only is set to turn ON TV and then OFF and the customer turns it OFF
before the timer does. Example: Set is set to come on at 7:00 AM and OFF at 8:00 AM.
Then the customer turns the TV OFF at 7:30 AM. The set will turn ON at 8:AM.
SOLUTION: Software miss-operation was the cause of this symptom.
If the customer should complain about the symptom above the CPU, IC001 on the
MA Board should be replaced

When replacing IC001 (52 pins) please use solder wick and a
soldering iron. Do not use a soldering gun.
CN303 cannot be
removed without
unsoldering from
either the MA or CA
MA Board Board
Can be slid out
from the rails.

MA Board is easily removed from the chassis by removing the connectors CN302,
CN304, CN305, CN309, CN001, CN002, CN003, CN004, CN005, and CN006, then
slide the board towards you.
Connector CN303 is a soldered in connector on both ends. The board can be
serviced without removing this CN303 since the cable is long enough to permit
removal of IC001.
IC001
After removing the connectors the MA Board can be slid out of the rail without any
problem. The cable for CN303 is long enough to allow the IC001 to be removed
using solder wick and a soldering iron to remove the solder from the 64 pin IC.
Model Software needs to be corrected between the
serial number range below.
