III Maintenance
Please be sure that PCBA has no missing parts, cold welding and missing welding. T01 - No power 1. Power Board Remove the top cover and check if the 10pin Cable connected to the Power Board is correctly plugged on the right position, or you may have to plug it again for a test. If the above step does not work, replace the Power Board.

2. Main Board Remove the top cover by removing the F/W first and replace a new F/W or plug the F/W correctly before checking for normal function. Check if the 10pin Cable connected to the MAIN BOARD is correctly plugged on the right position, or you may have to plug it again. If the above step does not work, the MAIN BOARD can be NG and replace the MAIN BOARD.

T02 - Power LED off or in poor brightness 1. Front Board Remove the top cover and the front panel and check if the Front Board LED is damaged. Test U1 Pin 42 to see if the voltage is low when Power goes ON. Be sure that U1 Pin 41 is Hi. Otherwise, it would suggest that U1 is NG. If the above step does not work, replace the Front Board.

T03 - Abnormal front panel LED display or no display 1. Front Board Remove the top cover by removing the front panel first and check if the PIN of the VFD MODULE experiences short circuit or breakage. Check if U1 Pin15~37 on the Front Board has signal output (Checking cold welding, missing welding and polarities of the parts). Check if the 10pin Cable linking the Main Board and the Front Board is correctly plugged on the right position or you may have to plug it again. If none of the above steps works, replace the Front Board.

Main Board Remove the top cover and check if J3&J201 Cable is correctly plugged on the right

position, or you may have to plug it again. Check Connector J201 Connector pin, U101Pin31~68 U701, Pin89~132, nearby IC or capacitors for missing welding, cold welding, wrong parts or reverse welding. Remove F/W and replace a new F/W or plug F/W again. Check if it works correctly. If none of the above steps works, it would suggest MAIN BOARD is NG, replace it.

3. Power Board Remove the top cover and check if the 10pin Cable connected to the Power Board is correctly plugged on the right position, or you may have to plug it again for a test. Use a universal wattmeter or an oscillator to test for ­27V between Main Board J301 Pin 8 and GND, or 4V6AC+ between Main Board J301 Pin 9 and GND and 4V6AC-between Main Board J301 Pin10 and GND, if not, it would suggest poor Power Board. If the above steps do not work, replace Power Board.

T04 - Time-consuming loading 1. Main Board Remove the top cover and check the resistors/bus resistors of U101, U70 or U702, nearby IC or capacitors for missing welding, cold welding, wrong parts or reverse welding. If the above step does not work, replace Main Board.

T05 - Remote Controller in poor contact or does not work 1. Remote Controller 2. If this device does not work correctly, first check if the power supply is all right, if not, replace the battery.

Front Board Remove the top cover by removing the front panel and check for short circuit, breakage, missing welding on U2 and check for 5V output on U2 pin 3. Check if 10pin Cable connecting Main Board to Front Board is plugged correctly on the right position or you may have to plug it again. If none of the above steps works, replace Front Board or Main Board.

T06 - Run In after turning on, no test available 1. Main Board

Remove the top cover and replace U201 F/W. If none of the above steps works, replace Main Board.

T07 - System breakdown after turn on 1. Main Board Remove the top cover and check if all Flat Cables connected to the inside of the device is plugged correctly on the right position, or you may have to plug it again. Remove F/W and replace it with a new F/W or plug F/W correctly before checking if it works correctly. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD.

T08 - System breakdown during play 1. Main Board Remove the top cover and check if all Flat Cables connected to the inside of the device is plugged correctly on the right position, or you may have to plug it again. Remove F/W and replace it with a new F/W or plug F/W correctly before checking if it works correctly. Check Main Board J902, U901, U701 or near by resistor or capacitor for missing welding or cold-welding. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD. Check DVD Loader for unsteadiness (skip discs), if yes, replace it. Check the test disc for severe scratches or circular, curved scratches, if yes, replace the test piece before testing again.

2. DVD ROM 3. DVD DISC

T09 - Wrong F/W version or version can not be changed Remove the top cover and update the MAIN BOARD F/W before proceeding with the test.

T0A - Device burnt out 1. F/W Check MAIN BOARD F/W for reverse polarities, if yes, replace it or install it correctly. Check and verify PCBA of burnt unit and replace it.

T0B - Unsteady turn on 1. Main Board Remove the top cover and check if all Flat Cables on the inside are plugged on the right position, or you may have to plug them again. Remove F/W (U201) and replace it with a new one or plug F/W again before checking if it works well. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD.

T0C - Noise in unit (noise when turning on unit) 1. DVD ROM Check for source of noise in DVD Loader. If yes, replace it.

T10 - Noise in disc drive 1. DVD ROM Check for source of noise in DVD Loader. If yes, replace it.

T11 - DVD TDV-563 reading track NG 1. Main Board Check J902, U901, U701, resistor, and nearby IC or capacitor for missing welding or cold-welding. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD. Check if there is No Disc in DVD Loader, if not, replace it.

2. DVD ROM

T12 - DVD TDV-553 reading track NG 1. Main Board Check the resistors or bus resistors on Main Board J902or U901or U701or nearby IC or capacitors for missing welding, cold welding, wrong parts or reverse welding. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD. Check if Loader does not read, if not, replace it.

2. DVD ROM

T13 - DVD TDV-545 reading track NG 1. Main Board Check the resistors or bus resistors on Main Board J902or U901or U701or nearby IC or capacitors for missing welding, cold welding, wrong parts or reverse welding. If none of the above steps works, replace Main Board. Check if Loader does not read, if not, replace it.

2. DVD ROM

T14 - DVD TDV-541 reading track NG 1. Main Board Check the resistors or bus resistors on Main Board J902or U901or U701or nearby IC or capacitors for missing welding, cold welding, wrong parts or reverse welding. If none of the above steps works, replace Main Board. Check if Loader does not read, if not, replace it.

2. DVD ROM

T15 - No Disc 1. Main Board Check resistors or bus resistors on Main Board U101 pin 31~68, U701 pin 89~132, or near by IC or capacitors for missing welding or cold welding. Check the resistors or bus resistors on Main Board J902or U901or U701or nearby IC or capacitors for missing welding, cold welding, wrong parts or reverse welding. If none of the above steps works, replace Main Board.

2. DVD ROM Check if Loader does not read, if not, replace it.

T16 - Disc drive does not work or gets stuck 1. Main Board Remove top cover and check if caused by poor assembly. Check the resistors or bus resistors on Main Board J801, J802, J803 or U801, U802 or nearby IC or capacitors for missing welding, cold welding, wrong parts or reverse welding. If none of the above steps works, replace Main Board if replacing Loader does not solve the problem.

T17 - Disc drive does not reset 1. DVD ROM Replace disc drive. Check if caused by poor assembly or parts.

T18 - Disc drive scratching discs 1. Main Board Check the resistors or bus resistors on Main Board J902, J901 and U701 or nearby IC

or capacitors for missing welding, cold welding, wrong parts or reverse welding. If none of the above steps works, replace Main Board if replacing Loader does not solve the problem.

T19 - Disc skip 1. Main Board Check the resistors or bus resistors on Main Board J902, J901 and U701 or nearby IC or capacitors for missing welding, cold welding, wrong parts or reverse welding. If none of the above steps works, replace Main Board if replacing Loader does not solve the problem.

T1A - Abnormal servo on 1. Main Board Check Main Board F/W (U41) for poor contact or poor F/W IC or U701 for missing welding or cold welding. Remove F/W (U41) and replace a new F/W or plug F/W properly before checking for normal operation. If none of the above steps works, replace Main Board

T1B - Abnormal tray 1. Main Board Remove the top cover and check if the unit Flat Cable is correctly plugged onto the right position, or you may have to plug it again. Check the resistors or bus resistors on Main Board J802or U801or U701or nearby IC or capacitors for missing welding or cold welding. If none of the above steps works, replace Main Board if replacing Loader does not solve the problem.

T1C - Pick-up-head does not work 1. Main Board Remove the top cover and check if the unit 30pin Flat Cable is correctly plugged onto the right position, or you may have to plug it again. Check the resistors or bus resistors on Main Board J902or U901or U701or nearby IC or capacitors for missing welding, cold welding, wrong parts or reverse welding. If none of the above steps works, replace Main Board if replacing Loader does not solve the problem.

T1D - Spindle does not work

Main Board Remove the top cover and check if the unit 11pin Flat Cable is correctly plugged onto the right position, or you may have to plug it again. Check the resistors or bus resistors on Main Board J801or U802or nearby IC or capacitors for missing welding, cold welding, wrong parts or reverse welding. If none of the above steps works, replace Main Board if replacing Loader does not solve the problem.

T20 - No Image/ Abnormal 1. I/O Board Remove the top cover and check J101J104J105J106 on I/O Board for missing welding or cold welding. 2. If none of the above steps works, replace I/O Board

Main Board Remove the top cover and check if the unit Flat Cable is correctly plugged onto the right position, or you may have to plug it again. Check J501 for missing welding or cold-welding. Check U101Pin31~68 or U701Pin89~132 on the Main Board or near by IC resistor or bus resistor for missing welding, cold welding, wrong parts or reverse welding. Use a universal wattmeter or an oscillator to test if X301 creates 27MHz, if not, remove neighboring parts with missing and cold welding. If X301 is NG, replace it. Check if U201 is in poor contact or F/W IC with problem. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD.

DVD ROM (rare) If it does not work by replacing Main Board, replace Loader.

T21 - Video - No image/abnormal 1. I/O Board Remove the top cover and check J101 and J106 on I/O Board for missing welding or cold welding. If none of the above steps works, replace I/O Board

2. Main Board Remove the top cover and check if the Flat Cables connected to the inside of the device are properly plugged in the right position, or plug them correctly. Check J501 for missing and cold welding, if yes, remove them. Check post CVBS RLC for missing welding or cold welding, wrong parts, short circuit or interruption, if any, remove it.

If none of the above steps works, check U101Pin76 and Pin78~80 for missing and cold welding, if any, remove it. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD.

T22 - YUV/RGB no image/ abnormal 1. I/O Board Remove the top cover and check J101 and J104 on I/O Board for missing welding or cold welding. If none of the above steps works, replace I/O Board

2. Main Board Remove the top cover and check if the Flat Cables connected to the inside of the device are properly plugged in the right position, or plug them correctly. Check J501 for missing and cold welding, if yes, remove them. Check post Y/G (Pin76), U/B (Pin73), V/R (Pin70) RLC for missing welding or cold welding, wrong parts, short circuit or interruption, if any, remove it. If none of the above steps works, check U101 Pin70Pin73Pin76 and Pin78~80 for missing and cold welding, if any, remove it. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD.

T23 - S-Video no image/abnormal or B/W 1. I/O Board Remove the top cover and check J101 and J105 on I/O Board for missing welding or cold welding. If none of the above steps works, replace I/O Board

2. Main Board Remove the top cover and check if the Flat Cables connected to the inside of the device are properly plugged in the right position, or plug them correctly. Check J501 for missing and cold welding, if yes, remove them. Check post Y (Y/CB) and C(C/CR) RLC for missing welding or cold welding, wrong parts, short circuit or interruption, if any, remove it. If none of the above steps works, check U101 Pin70Pin73 and Pin78~80 for missing and cold welding, if any, remove it. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD.

T24 - Abnormal VCD display 1. Main Board Check U101, U102 for missing, cold-welding or short-circuit and remove if any.

Check J902, U901, and U701 for missing, cold welding, wrong parts or reverse welding and remove if any. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD. In case of pause, skip tracks on the screen, be sure to verify for scratches or dirt on the disc, if none replace Loader.

2. DVD ROM

T25 - Abnormal DVD display 1. Main Board 2. Check U101, U102 for missing, cold-welding or short-circuit and remove if any. Check J902, U901, and U701 or near by IC resistor/ bus resistor for missing, cold welding, wrong parts or reverse welding and remove if any. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD. In case of pause, skip tracks on the screen, be sure to verify for scratches or dirt on the disc, if none replace Loader.

DVD ROM

T26 - Abnormal NF-200 display 1. DVD ROM 2. Replace Loader Replace Main Board Main Board

T27 - SCART Video no image/abnormal Check if the Cable between SCART Board and Main Board is properly plugged, if not, plug it properly. Replace SCART Board.

T28 - SCART YUV/RGB No image/abnormal (for models with RGB output) Check if the Cable between SCART Board and Main Board is properly plugged, if not, plug it properly. Replace SCART Board.

T29 - Irregular on-screen subtitle or no displays at all 1. Main Board Remove the top cover by first removing F/W (U201) and replacing it with a new F/W or plugging F/W again. Check if it works well, or replace F/W. Check U101 and U102 for cold welding and short circuit. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD.

T2A - Abnormal menu setting 1. Main Board Check U101 for missing or cold welding and remove if any. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD.

T30 - Audio - AOL no sound or abnormal sound 1. I/O Board Remove the top cover and check J101 and J102 on I/O Board for missing welding or cold welding. If none of the above steps works, replace I/O Board

2. Main Board Check J501 on Main Board for missing welding or cold welding, if any, correct. Check post AOL parts for missing welding, cold welding, short circuit, interruption, missing parts or wrong parts, if any, correct. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD.

T31 - Audio ­ AOR no sound or abnormal sound 1. I/O Board Remove the top cover and check J101 and J102 on I/O Board for missing welding or cold welding. If none of the above steps works, replace I/O Board

2. Main Board Check J501 on Main Board for missing welding or cold welding, if any, correct. Check post AOR parts for missing welding, cold welding, short circuit, interruption, missing parts or wrong parts, if any, correct. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD.

T32 - Audio - CO no sound or abnormal sound (5.1 CH models) 1. I/O Board 2. Remove the top cover and check J101 and J102 on I/O Board for missing welding or cold welding. If none of the above steps works, replace I/O Board

Main Board Check J501 on Main Board for missing welding or cold welding, if any, correct. Check post CO parts for missing welding, cold welding, short circuit, interruption,

missing parts or wrong parts, if any, correct. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD.

T33 - Audio - LS no sound or abnormal sound (5.1CH models) 1. I/O Board 2. Remove the top cover and check J101 and J102 on I/O Board for missing welding or cold welding. If none of the above steps works, replace I/O Board

Main Board Check J501 on Main Board for missing welding or cold welding, if any, correct. Check post LS parts for missing welding, cold welding, short circuit, interruption, missing parts or wrong parts, if any, correct. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD.

T34 - Audio - RS no sound or abnormal sound (5.1CH Models) 1. I/O Board 2. Remove the top cover and check J101 and J102 on I/O Board for missing welding or cold welding. If none of the above steps works, replace I/O Board

Main Board Check J501 on Main Board for missing welding or cold welding, if any, correct. Check post RS parts for missing welding, cold welding, short circuit, interruption, missing parts or wrong parts, if any, correct. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD.

T35 - Audio - LFE no sound or abnormal sound (5.1CH Models) 1. I/O Board 2. Remove the top cover and check J101 and J102 on I/O Board for missing welding or cold welding. If none of the above steps works, replace I/O Board

Main Board Check J501 on Main Board for missing welding or cold welding, if any, correct. Check post LFE parts for missing welding, cold welding, short circuit, interruption, missing parts or wrong parts, if any, correct. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD.

T36 - AC3 no sound or abnormal sound 1. I/O Board 2. Remove top cover and check post J101J107J108 on I/O Board for missing welding, cold welding, short circuit, interruption, missing parts or wrong parts, if any, correct. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD.

Main Board Check SETUP MENU/AUDIO SETUP/ OUTPUT for switching to DIGITAL. Check J501 for missing welding or cold welding, if any, correct. If none of the above steps works, replace U101. Replace MAIN BOARD if it does not work.

T37 - TCD-731RA noise 1. Power Board 2. 3. Remove the top cover and check if the Flat Cable connected to Power Board is correctly plugged in the right position, it not, plug it again for testing. If the above does not work, replace Power Board. Check if Main Board U301-pin2 and U101-pin43 (or pin 63) have 16.9344MHz, if no such frequency is available, it would suggest that U301 or U101 NG, replace them. Check the resistors or bus resistors on main board J801, U801, U701 or near by IC capacitors for missing welding or cold welding. If none of the above steps works, replace Loader if replacing the MAIN BOARD does not solve the problem. Remove the top cover and the front panel to check if R23 experiences cold welding, missing welding or missing parts. If none of the above works, replace Front Board.

Main Board

Front Board (for models with earphone) -

T38 - TCD-712 noise 1. Power Board 2. Remove the top cover and check if the Flat Cable connected to Power Board is correctly plugged in the right position, it not, plug it again for testing. If the above does not work, replace Power Board.

Main Board Check if Main Board U301-pin2 and U101-pin43 (or pin 63) have 16.9344MHz, if no such frequency is available, it would suggest that U301 or U101 NG, replace them. Check the resistors or bus resistors on main board J801, U801, U701 or near by IC capacitors for missing welding or cold welding.

If none of the above steps works, replace Loader if replacing the MAIN BOARD does not solve the problem. Remove the top cover and the front panel to check if R23 experiences cold welding, missing welding or missing parts. If none of the above works, replace Front Board.

Front Board (for models with earphone) -

T39 - SBC444A noise 1. Power Board 2. Remove the top cover and check if the Flat Cable connected to Power Board is correctly plugged in the right position, it not, plug it again for testing. If the above does not work, replace Power Board.

Main Board Check if Main Board U301-pin2 and U101-pin43 (or pin 63) have 16.9344MHz, if no such frequency is available, it would suggest that U301 or U101 NG, replace them. Check the resistors or bus resistors on main board J801, U801, U701 or near by IC capacitors for missing welding or cold welding. If none of the above steps works, replace Loader if replacing the MAIN BOARD does not solve the problem. Remove the top cover and the front panel to check if R23 experiences cold welding, missing welding or missing parts. If none of the above works, replace Front Board.

T3A - CBS no waveform (sound) or abnormal waveform (sound) 1. Power Board 2. Remove the top cover and check if the Flat Cable connected to Power Board is correctly plugged in the right position, it not, plug it again for testing. If the above does not work, replace Power Board.

Main Board Check if Main Board U301-pin2 and U101-pin43 (or pin 63) have 16.9344MHz, if no such frequency is available, it would suggest that U301 or U101 NG, replace them. Check the resistors or bus resistors on main board J801, U801, U701 or near by IC capacitors for missing welding or cold welding. If none of the above steps works, replace Loader if replacing the MAIN BOARD does not solve the problem. Remove the top cover and the front panel to check if R23 experiences cold welding, missing welding or missing parts. If none of the above works, replace Front Board.

T3B - MP3 noise 1. Power Board 2. Remove the top cover and check if the Flat Cable connected to Power Board is correctly plugged in the right position, it not, plug it again for testing. If the above does not work, replace Power Board.

Main Board Check if Main Board U301-pin2 and U101-pin43 (or pin 63) have 16.9344MHz, if no such frequency is available, it would suggest that U301 or U101 NG, replace them. Check the resistors or bus resistors on main board J801, U801, U701 or near by IC capacitors for missing welding or cold welding. If none of the above steps works, replace Loader if replacing the MAIN BOARD does not solve the problem. Remove the top cover and the front panel to check if R23 experiences cold welding, missing welding or missing parts. If none of the above works, replace Front Board.

Check post AOL, AOR (CO, LS, RS, LFE for 5.1CH models) for missing welding, cold welding, short circuit, interruption, missing parts or wrong parts, if any, correct. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD.

T3D - SCART Audio no waveform (sound) or abnormal waveform (sound) 1. Main Board Check if Cable between SCART Board and Main Board is properly plugged, if not, correct it. If none of the above steps works, replace MAIN BOARD or SCART Board.

T3E - SCART Audio left no waveform (sound) or abnormal waveform (sound) 1. Main Board Check if Cable between SCART Board and Main Board is properly plugged, if not,

T41 - Image does not pause or stop 1. Remote controller If the device is running normally, be sure that the remote controller has enough power, if not, replace the battery.

T51 - Unsuccessful entry to system setting 1. Main Board Check U101 and U103 parts for missing welding, cold welding and reverse IC welding or missing parts. If none of the above steps works, either Main Board or F/W (U201) is NG. Replace Main Board or F/W (U201) for new engraving.

T52 - No play or system breakdown after system setting 1. Main Board Check U101 for missing welding, cold welding and reverse IC welding or missing parts. If none of the above steps works, either Main Board or F/W (U201) is NG. Replace Main Board or re-install F/W (U201).

T53 - SCART full function abnormal

1. Abnormal switch between 4:3 and 16:9 screens. 4:3 Screen hardware settings are as follows: Ensure Q503 B polarity SCART_TV Pin, input at Low. Ensure Q502 B polarity SCART_SW Pin, input at Hi. Ensure Q501 C polarity SW_SCART Pin, output at 9.5V~12V.

16:9 Screen hardware settings are as follows: Ensure Q503 B polarity SCART_TV Pin, input on Low. Ensure Q502 B polarity SCART_SW Pin, input at Low. Ensure Q501 C polarity SW_SCART pin, output at 5V~8V.

TV Mode display hardware settings are as follows: Ensure Q503 B polarity SCART_TV Pin, input on Hi. Ensure Q502 B polarity SCART_SW Pin, input on Low.
