equipped with newly developed 12V Ni-MH battery.
BTW120 : The advanced version of the existing Mod. 6918D, H H
equipped with newly developed 12V Ni-MH battery.

< 1 > Disassembling housing R and L
Remove hammer case from housing R and L.
(In case of Model BTW120, anvil can be disassembled from the machine in this process.)
And then, housing R can be separated from housing L.
< 2 > Disassembling sleeve section (only for Model BTD120)
(1) Take off ring spring from the groove on anvil.
(2) Flat washer, compression spring, sleeve
and 2 pcs. of steel ball 3.5 can be removed from anvil.
(3) Anvil can be removed from hammer case.

(4) When assembling anvil to hammer case, put MAKITA grease N No.2 by approx.0.5g
to the cylindric part of anvil.


< 3 > Disassembling hammer
(1) Press down hammer with 1R045: Large gear extractor
by turning the handle.

(2)Adjust the opening for steel ball inserting to the cam groove top of spindle.

(3)Take off steel ball 5.6 from spindle. Cam groove top
< Note > 25 steel balls 3.5 are installed in hammer. of spindle
Check the quantity when assembling.

(4) Apply MAKITA grease N No.2 to the position No. 1, 2,
3 and 4, when assembling. (1) to Spindle : 0.5g
(3) to Steel ball 5.6 x 2 : 0.5g

Give a shock by knocking internal gear case from internal gear case by the shock.

Tapping screws have to be fastened after assembling
hammer case to housing with the following torque.
Adjusted torque on

Housing set 1.27 - 1.76Nm {10 - 13 Kgf.cm}
Hammer case 1.76 - 2.16Nm {18 - 22 Kgf.cm}
When hammer case is assembled to housing, screws have to be tightened diagonally as illustrated
in Fig. 5.
