HIGH KEYPRESS FORCE

Due to a process change at the PCB vendor, PCBs were produced with a too
high solder mask.

When the solder mask is too high, the symptom to the customer is a bad
working keypad, especially the middle keys (NaviKey, 2, 8, and 0), more
keypress force is needed to activate the key.

The height of the solder mask varies, so in some cases it requires a high
keypress force, and in some cases no problem is observed.

When the solder mask is too high the keydome itself rests on top of the
solder mask, instead of making electric contact to the keydome pad on the
PCB, giving the feeling of a key click but without any indication in the display.

These above mentioned PCBs have been used only in phones 'Made in
Finland' within below IMEI range:

First: 448903/10/729000/0
Last: 449142/10/432508/8

These PCBs can be identified by the double arrow symbol ( ) between the
keypads used for key 3 and 4 on the PCB.

New modified keydome sheet is available at the beginning of March, 2000.

Until above repair solution is available, all units returned due to above
symptoms within above mentioned IMEI range, need to be exchanged.
Changed units should not be scrapped, but stored up until new keydome is
available. Thereafter these units can be used for swap purposes.
