Subject: Countermeasure for the malfunctions after setting up the HDMI/DVI
BLK LEVEL and upon playing back particular CDDA Disc.


Symptom: 1) After setting up the HDMI/DVI BLK LEVEL to the ENHANCED,
the setting returns to the NORMAL, after the AC Power Source is switched to ON
and OFF. At the DVI, when the resolution was switched after setting up the BLK
LEVEL to the NORMAL, it returns to the ENHANCED setting.
2) When playing back the Track 12 (around 3 minutes from the beginning) on the
particular CDDA Disc (RICKSPRINGFIELD/karma), the Analog sounds on the
subsequent Tracks including the last Track are not output.

Solution: The Firmware has been updated.
MODIFICATION: (Upon Claim)
1) Preparation of the Disc for upgrading: Please record the files onto a blank
CD-R and upgrade your customer's unit.
Note: When recording the files on the CD-R, the Format shall be "ISO9660,
Mode 1" and the Session shall be "CLOSE".
2) Rewriting Procedures of the ESS ROM:
(a.) Connect the Image Output Terminal (VIDEO OUT or S-VIDEO OUT) of the
above unit to a TV.
(b.) Turn on the Power of the unit. Open the LOADER and set the CD-R for
rewriting to the LOADER.
(c.) Press the "OPEN/CLOSE" button.
(d.) The "LOADING" appears on the FL Display, and the LOADER opens
automatically when the upgrading completed. Take out the Disc from the
LOADER. During the rewriting operation, indications of "ERASE" and "WRITE"

(e.) Turn off the Power of the unit once. While holding the "PLAY" and
"OPEN/CLOSE" buttons down simultaneously, turn on the Power of the unit.
After the " >||" mark was indicated on the FL Display, press numeral buttons "3",
"2", "6" and "5" on the Remote Control. The following Versions appear every time
the MENU button on the Remote Control is pressed. Confirm the Version.
