Subject: Correction of the Firmware via DFW (D&M Firmware Writer), CD-R
and USB.
Countermeasure is applicable only upon claim from the customer.

Symptom: 1) Addition of new function of audio signal of "AUX 1" can be
assigned to HDMI selection.
2) When unit connects to Samsung BD-C6900, BD-C8500 and BD-C8000 with
HDMI connection, audio signal is not outputted.
3) No sound via HDMI from Humax satellite receiver.
4) When the HDMI-CEC control is selected to TV function, audio sound of BD is
not outputted.
5) Crackling noise on surround back speakers during playback of DTS-HD-MSTR
6.1 disc.
6) Sound does not out from subwoofer when turn on power of DHT-S500HD by
CEC control with LC-20D50 (SHARP LCD TV).
7) The red caution might be indicated, and the unit might not play the BD disc
"AVATAR".
8) The freeze occurs in one mode though there are four kinds of sound output in
the disc ( "unplugged" No.2729428). The mode is only DTS-HD Master
Audio7.1. It is frozen near Track 21(1h28m03s), and the video and the sound
stop. But, the FL Display counts time.
9) Layer Break of DVD is clearly visible when playing back DVD9 with all Denon
BD players.
10) When play a "TERMINATOR SALVATION (BD Disc)", a screen might be
white color in BD LIVE.
11) When unit reproduces specific BD which made in only the "Twentieth Century
Fox Film Corporation", unit will display a picture that promoting update of the

firmware, and then the block noise might generate when unit reproduces the
main title.
12) When unit reproduces specific BD which made in only the "Twentieth Century
Fox Film Corporation", unit displays a text that promoting update of the firmware,
and unit might reproduce the main title.
13) Customer complained Blue Ray "Quantum of Solace" would not play.
14) When unit reproduces DVD-Audio, the audio signal might output without any
sound or noise signal or/and the video signal might output without any picture.
15) Malfunction when playback the specific BD (2L audiophile reference
recordings).
16) Not Compatible with Runco DHD3 Processor.
17) The unit shows lots of artifacts when de-interlaced to 1080p/50 or 1080p/60.

Solution: We corrected the firmware so that no malfunction occurs.
MODIFICATION: We will supply the following program file to update the
Firmware of the subject models. Please update all of following Firmware (DFW,
CD-R and USB) of the subject models.

METHOD OF UPDATING the firmware via RS232C
We will supply the following program files for updating the subject models in SDI.
Please refer to the following Instruction Manual for updating.

METHOD OF UPDATING by CD-R with firmware
We will supply the following program files for updating the subject models.
Therefore, please record each program file on a blank CD-R separately, and
update the unit upon claim.

Note: Upon recording the Disc:
a) When recording the supplied file on the blank CD-R, the format shall be
"ISO9660" and the session shall be "CLOSE".
b) When recording the supplied file on the disc, please use the lowest recording
speed that is available on your PC. If the file is recorded at a higher speed, the
rewriting operation may fail due to improperly recorded data on the disc.

Rewriting procedures of the SYSTEM ROM (IC853).
(1) Download the "S5BD_SYS.ROM" firmware in SDI.
(2) Please make "DM_FM_UP" folder on PC.
(3) Please insert the "S5BD_SYS.ROM" firmware into "DM_FM_UP" folder.

(4) Please burn the CD-R by at once mode.
(5) Turn the Power Supply of the unit on. Press the "OPEN/CLOSE" button and
open the Disc Tray.
(6) Put the recorded CD-R on the Disc Tray and press the buttons on the remote
control in the order of "7", "9", "2" and "ENTER".
(7) The Disc Tray will close automatically.

(8) The FL Display indicates progress of updating. Time necessary for update:
approximately 3 min.
(9) The unit turns off and turns on, and then "NO DISC" is indicated.
(10) The new firmware is installed completely.
(11) Press the "OPEN/CLOSE" button and open the Disc Tray.
(12) When "HD" indicator does not light on FL Display, Please go to next STEP
(13). When "HD" indicator lights on FL Display, Please go to (6) and update
again. (13) Take out the CD-R from the Disc Tray.

Rewriting procedures of the BE ROM (IC110).
(1) Download the "DcmUpdate.fw" and "DcmAuthentication" firmware in SDI.
(2) Please insert the "DcmUpdate.fw" and "DcmAuthentication" firmware into
the Root directory.

(3) Please burn the CD-R by at once mode.
(4) Turn the Power Supply of the unit on. Press the "OPEN/CLOSE" button and
open the Disc Tray.
(5) Put the recorded CD-R on the Disc Tray and press the buttons on the remote
control in the order of "7", "9", "2" and "RETURN".
(6) The Disc Tray will close automatically.
(7) The FL Display indicates "LOADING", then progress of updating.
Time necessary for update: approximately 20 min.
(8) The new firmware is installed completely.
(9) The Disc Tray opens automatically.
(10) Take out the CD-R from the Disc Tray.

Rewriting procedures of the FE/BE ROM (IC100).
(1) Download the "DcmUpdate.fw" and "DcmAuthentication" firmware in SDI.
(2) Please insert the "DcmUpdate.fw" and "DcmAuthentication" firmware into
the Root directory.

(3) Please burn the CD-R by at once mode.
(4) Turn the Power Supply of the unit on. Press the "OPEN/CLOSE" button and
open the Disc Tray.
(5) Put the recorded CD-R on the Disc Tray and press the buttons on the remote
control in the order of "7", "9", "2" and "RETURN".
(6) The Disc Tray will close automatically.
(7) The FL Display indicates "LOADING", then progress of updating. Time
necessary for update: approximately 5 min.
(8) The new firmware is installed completely.

(9) The Disc Tray opens automatically.
(10) Take out the CD-R from the Disc Tray.

METHOD OF UPDATE the firmware by USB:
(1) Unzip the file S5BD_USB_037.zip. The following folder and a file are made.
S5BD_USB.rom
(2) Copy the file to Root folder of an USB memory.
(3) Turn of the power of the unit.
(4) Select the source "USB" by push the "SOURCE SELECT" button.
(5) Connect the USB memory to the unit.
(6) "UPGRADE?" is displayed on the both of FL display and OSD.
(7) Push the "Right" of Cursor button of RC unit.
(8) "UPGRADE?" is displayed on the both of FL display and OSD.
(9) Push the "Enter" button of RC unit.
(10) "UPGRADE" is displayed on the both of FL display and OSD. Then update
starts.
(11) After passed about 40 seconds, "COMPLETE" is displayed on the both of
FL display and OSD.
(12) Disconnect the USB, then turn off the power of the unit.

Cautions: Never turn off the power during the state of the above item # (10).
If you do the unit might not work.

Confirmation of the version:
(1) While pushing the "SOURCE" and "SKIP-" button, plug in AC CORD.
(2) The version of the firmware will be indicated on the FL Display.
(3) Push the "STATUS" button on the Remote controller, version of the each
firmware will be indicated on the FL Display.
