Subject: Recovery of the Firmware with CD-R.
Countermeasure is applicable only upon claim from the customer.


Symptom: Update via DPMS might abort with "File Load Error".


Solution: We corrected the firmware so that malfunction might not occur.
MODIFICATION: We will supply the following program file to recovery/update
the Firmware of the subject models.
Preparation of failure indicated unit.
1) Remove Ethernet cable from unit.
2) Pull out AC cable of unit from AC socket on the wall.
3) Insert AC cable to the AC socket.
4) While pushing the "SOURCE" and "SKIP FWD" button, press the
"ON/STANDBY" button continuously.
5) The FL Display will flash all segments and no segment repetition.
6) Release your fingers from the "SOURCE" and "SKIP FWD" buttons.
7) The display on the FL Display switches to "INITIALIZING" / "Please_Wait" >
"BD/SD" / "INITIALIZING" > "BD/SD" / "INITIALIZED" and initialization is
completed.
8) Afterwards, it enters the "FIRST SETUP" mode.
9) Push the "RETURN" button on wireless remote controller.
10) The "Cancel Setup?" will be indicated on the upper stage of FL Display.
11) The "Yes or No: 12) Press the left and down button of Cresol on wireless remote controller, and
select the "Yes or No: >Yes".
13) Press the "ENTER" button on wireless remote controller.

Complete rewrite procedures for the BE ROM (IC110). We will supply the
following program files for updating the subject models.

Therefore, please record each program file on a blank CD-R separately, and
update the unit upon claim.
Note: Upon recording the Disc:
a) Do not use the "Multi Session" mode.
b) When recording the supplied file on the blank CD-R, the format shall be
"ISO9660+Joliet".
c) Mode shall be "MODE1".
d) When recording the supplied file on the disc, please use the proper recording
speed that is available on your PC.
e) The burning method shall be "Disc at Once".
f) For your safety, please apply the firmware version on CD-R.

Firmware for update with CD-R:




(1) Download the "DcmUpdate.fw" and "DcmAuthentication" firmware in SDI.
(2) Please insert the "DcmUpdate.fw" and "DcmAuthentication" firmware into the
Root directory.

(3) Please burn the CD-R by at once mode.
(4) Turn the Power Supply of the unit on. Press the "OPEN/CLOSE" button and
open the Disc Tray.
(5) Put the recorded CD-R on the Disc Tray and press the buttons on the remote
control in the order of "7", "9", "2" and "RETURN".
(6) The Disc Tray will close automatically. If Tray does not close, go to item (5).
(7) The FL Display will indicate "CLOSE" or "LOADING". Time necessary for
update: approximately 5 minutes. If updating is not finished over 10 min.,
please turn off the power of unit and go to item (4).
(8) The FL Display will indicate "1/1 BE Firm", "Updating xx%" and "Remain
yymin", then progress of updating.

Caution!: Do not turn off the power of unit if unit stops updating, because unit will
be updating the firmware continuously. Time necessary for update:
approximately 20 minutes.

(9) The new firmware is installed completely.
(10) The Disc Tray opens automatically.
(11) The FL Display will be indicated "Complete".
(12) Take out the CD-R from the Disc Tray.

Rewriting procedures of the BE ROM (IC110). We will supply the following
program file for updating the subject models. Therefore, please record each
program file on a blank CD-R separately, and update the unit upon claim.

Firmware (same as DZ10-027) for update with CD-R:




(1) Download the "DcmUpdate.fw" and "DcmAuthentication" firmware in SDI.
(2) Please insert the "DcmUpdate.fw" and "DcmAuthentication" firmware into the
Root directory.

(3) Please burn the CD-R by at once mode.
(4) Turn the Power Supply of the unit on. Press the "OPEN/CLOSE" button and
open the Disc Tray.
(5) Put the recorded CD-R on the Disc Tray and press the buttons on the remote
control in the order of "7", "9", "2" and "RETURN".
(6) The Disc Tray will close automatically. If Tray does not close, go to item (5).
(7) The FL Display will indicate "CLOSE" or "LOADING". Time necessary for
update: approximately 5 minutes. If updating is not finished over 10 min.,
please turn off the power of unit and go to item (4).
(8) The FL Display will indicate "1/1 BE Firm", "Updating xx%" and "Remain
yymin", then progress of updating.

Caution!:
Do not turn off the power of unit if unit stops updating, because unit will be
updating the firmware continuously. Time necessary for update: approximately
10 minutes.

Confirmation of the firmware version:
(1) While pushing the "SOURCE" and "SKIP-" button, plug in AC cable.
(2) The version of the firmware will be indicated on the FL Display.
(3) Push the "STATUS" button on the Remote controller, version of the each
firmware will be indicated on the FL Display.
(4) If the version or "Sys Ver" or/and "F/E Ver" is/are more previous version than
the following table, please update the "System firmware" or/and "F/E firmware".

Firmware (same as DZ10-027) for update with CD-R:




(1) Download the "S5BD_SYS.ROM" firmware in SDI.
(2) Please make "DM_FM_UP" folder on PC.
(3) Please insert the "S5BD_SYS.ROM" firmware into "DM_FM_UP" folder.

(4) Please burn the CD-R by at once mode.
(5) Turn the Power Supply of the unit on. Press the "OPEN/CLOSE" button and
open the Disc Tray.
(6) Put the recorded CD-R on the Disc Tray and press the buttons on the remote
control in the order of "7", "9", "2" and "ENTER".
(7) The Disc Tray will close automatically.
(8) The FL Display indicates progress of updating. Time necessary for update:
approximately 3 minutes.
(9) The unit turns off and turns on, and then "NO DISC" is indicated.
(10) The new firmware is installed completely.
(11) Press the "OPEN/CLOSE" button and open the Disc Tray.
(12) Take out the CD-R from the Disc Tray.

Rewriting procedures of the FE ROM (IC100). We will supply the following
program files for updating the subject models. Therefore, please record each
program file on a blank CD-R separately, and update the unit upon claim.




(1) Download the "DcmUpdate.fw" and "DcmAuthentication" firmware in SDI.
(2) Please insert the "DcmUpdate.fw" and "DcmAuthentication" firmware into the
Root directory.
