PERIODIC MAINTENANCE CHART
Periodic Maintenance Overview
Careful periodic maintenance will help keep your vehicle / attachment in the safest, most reliable condition. Inspection,
adjustment and lubrication of important components are explained in the periodic maintenance chart.

Inspect, clean, lubricate, adjust and replace parts as necessary. When inspection reveals the need for replacement
parts, use genuine Polaris parts available from your Polaris dealer.
NOTE: Service and adjustments are critical. If you're not familiar with safe service and adjustment procedures, have a
qualified dealer perform these operations.

Maintenance intervals in the following chart are based upon average conditions. Attachments subjected to severe use
must be inspected and serviced more frequently.

Severe Use Definition

· Frequent immersion in mud, water or sand
· Prolonged heavy load operation

Troubleshooting

WARNING

repairs, adjustments or service. Check for correct function after adjustments, repairs or service. Untrained operators
and failure to follow instructions can cause injury or death.

SHEAR BOLTS
Replacing Gear Box Driveline Shear Bolt

WARNING

AVOID SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH
Before leaving the operator seat:
·Park on flat level ground.

on the ground.
·Press the brake and put the gear selector lever in
PARK.
·Stop the engine and remove the key.

LUBRICATION
Lubricating The PTO Driveline And Wheels
WARNING
Lubricate the Angle Broom as scheduled.
AVOID SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH
Grease Fittings Before leaving the operator seat:
·Park on flat level ground.
·Lower the attachment arm, put the attachment flat
on the ground.
·Press the brake and put the gear selector lever in
PARK.
·Stop the engine and remove the key.
·Make sure PTO driveline and all rotating parts have
come to a complete stop.

NOTE: Fluid such as engine oil, hydraulic fluid,
coolants, grease, etc. must be disposed of in an
environmentally safe manner. Some regulations
require that certain spills and leaks on the ground
must be cleaned in a specific manner. See local,
state and federal regulations for the correct
disposal.
1. Position the vehicle on a level surface and fully lower
the attachment to the ground.
2. Move the gear selector lever to Park.
3. Stop the engine and exit the vehicle.
4. Make sure PTO driveline and all rotating parts have
Grease Fitting come to a complete stop.
NOTE: The belt guard will need to be removed to
access the driveline u-joint grease fitting at the gear
box and the belt tension pivot grease fitting.

5. Lubricate the grease fittings with Polaris Premium All
Season Grease or equivalent.




WARNING

· Never operate with covers or guards removed.

coolants, grease, etc. must be disposed of in an
environmentally safe manner. Some regulations
require that certain spills and leaks on the ground 2
must be cleaned in a specific manner. See local,
state and federal regulations for the correct 4

NOTE: When repairing hydrostatic or hydraulic
systems, clean the work area before disassembly 1
and keep parts clean. Always use caps and plugs on
hoses, tubelines and ports to keep dirt out. Dirt can
quickly damage the system.

5. Disconnect the two hoses (Item 1). Install caps on the
WARNING hoses and cylinder fittings.
6. Remove the two cotter pins (Item 2) and the two pins

5. Put the rod end in a vise.
6. Remove the nut.




1. Place the base end of the cylinder in a drain pan.
Slowly move the rod in and to remove the hydraulic
fluid that is in the cylinder.
2. Place the base end of the cylinder in a vise.
NOTE: To prevent damage to the housing use a soft
material over the vise jaws.
3. Use the adjustable gland nut wrench to loosen and
remove the head.
7. Remove the piston from the shaft.
8. Remove the head from the rod.

9. Remove the O-ring, back-up ring and O-ring from the

outer diameter of the head.
WARNING

Protect eyes from contact with cleaner. Take
appropriate safety measures during these
procedures. Safety glasses and chemical resistant
gloves are required. Should you get cleaner in your
eyes or if you swallow cleaner, seek medical attention
immediately.

12. Remove the seal and O-ring.

13. Wash the cylinder components in clean solvent and
dry.

NOTE: Handle all parts carefully. Inspect for nicks,

before reassembling the cylinder. Replace parts that
appear damaged in any way. The cylinder may not
function correctly if there is damage to any of the
parts.

14. Destroy all O-rings and seals and replace with NEW
O-rings and seal.

Always use new seals and O-rings during assembly of the
hydraulic cylinder. Lubricate seals and O-rings with clean
hydraulic fluid.
5. Install the ring compressor to compress the seal to the
correct size. Leave the piston in the compressor for
three minutes.




1. Install the O-Ring on the piston.
NOTE: Do not over stretch the O-ring when
assembling.

6. Install the oil seal on the tool (PU-51292).

NOTE: The O-ring side of the wiper seal goes
towards the inside of the cylinder head.
7. Install the seal into the head.


2. Install the seal on the tool (PU-51293) and stretch the
seal until it fits the piston.
3. Allow the seal to stretch for 30 seconds before
removing from the tool.




8. Install the wiper seal with the lip towards the outside
of the head.

4. Install the seal on the piston.

AVOID INJURY OR DEATH
Wear safety glasses to prevent eye injury when any of
the following conditions exist:
· When fluids are under pressure.
· Flying debris or loose material is present.
· Engine is running.
· Tools are being used.
5. Loosen the two set screws (Item 1).

·Stop the engine and remove the key.

punch.

17 ft-lbs (23 Nm)

NOTE: Apply anti-seize to the shaft.

4. Lock the collar (Item 2) to the bearing using a drift
punch.
5. Install and tighten the two set screws (Item 1).




8. Remove the three bolts (Item 5) and nuts.

9. Remove the two bearing flanges (Item 6) and the
bearing (Item 7).


Installation

1. Install the bearing (Item 7) into the two bearing
flanges (Item 6) and place the bearing on the side
plate.
2. Install the three bolts (Item 5) and nuts. Torque the
bolts to specification.

17 ft-lbs (23 Nm)

3. Install the side panel (Item 4) and install the four bolts
(Item 3) and nuts. Torque the bolts and nuts to
