Subject: Retry Error when recording, Sound skipping on Playback Symptom: (**)

Date: December 4, 1996

When recording using a Sony MO disc MDW-60 with stamper No. "J2-0304", "RETRY ERROR" is displayed and sound skips during playback. To view the stamper number open the shutter of the disc. Look for the number at the area closest to the spindle hole. Rotating the disc may be necessary to align the number with the shutter opening.

Solution:

Change the contents of the non-volatile memory as outlined below. Address 12 13 Former 39 A8 New 3B B8

How to Change the memory: 1. Place the unit in TEST MODE and rotate the AMS knob to Select "EEP MODE", then press the "YES" button. 2. Select "12" as ADDRESS by turning AMS knob and pushing AMS knob to select. 3. Change the ADDRESS for 12 from "39" to "3B" by turning the AMS button and pushing the YES button. 4. Change the ADDRESS for 13 from "A8" TO "B8" using to the same procedure. 5. Remove power from the unit and then turn it back on.
