4 - 36 Development

Procedure when the factory setting is not known: 1. Remove the used toner hopper and hold the back of the developer assembly down on a flat surface with a heavy object so the mag roller will not tilt down. Clean the developer material, if it is present, off a 2 inch area of the center of the magnet roller. 2. Loosen the screw securing the developer pole position adjustment plate. 3. Move the development pole adjustment plate to the center of the slotted hole. 4. To measure put a straight pin through a piece of paper exactly 36mm from the paper's edge. Hold the tip of the pin close to the mag roller with the edge of the paper on the flat surface. Move the mag roller position plate until the pin is exactly perpendicular to the mag roller or horizontal to the flat surface. 5. Tighten the adjustment plate screw. 6. Hold the paper with the pin through it in position by the magnet roller and measure the pole height. It should be 36mm. See the illustration at right. 7. Recheck the adjustment.
