Warning
Read the warnings below before you start up connecting the UPS. 1. This UPS system contain hazardous AC and DC voltages and is supplied from more power sources! 2. Only qualified electricians must perform the installation according to national and local codes! 3. This UPS system has no built-in disconnecting devices for the external AC and DC input power sources. Disconnecting devices must be provided as external parts in connection with the installation! 4. The Installer must provide each external disconnecting device for this UPS system with labels having the following wording: "Isolate the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) as instructed in the Installation Guide before working on this circuit".

1.0 INTRODUCTION
The information given in this installation guide is of general nature for the local authorized electrical installer. By the installation also national and local electrical regulations have to be adhered to.

2.0 UNPACKING
1. 2. 3. Unpack the system by removing the screws on the top and bottom part of the packaging side plates and lift up the side plates as a whole. Check that the type label placed inside on the front door correspond to the ordered system, especially with respect to input / output voltages. Transport the system to the installation site by lifting underneath by means of a fork lift.

3.0 PLACING 3.1 Requirements on the installation site.
The system is designed for indoor installation. The system must not be exposed to direct sunlight. The ambient temperature must be 0° to +40°C. The relative air humidity must be less than 95%, not condensing. The ambient air must be free from dust and aggressive gases. The air flow through the ventilation slots must not be hindered. Keep the ventilation slots free from dust. The arrangement of the system should be made according to point 3.2 and 3.3 to ensure enough free space for operation and service. Base drawings showing the location of cubicle feet and cable inlets are shown in point 3.4.

4.0 CONNECTION 4.1 NOTICE ! IMPORTANT !
This system is not equipped with internally disconnecting switches for mains and battery supply. The switch for mains supply must be provided by the customer. The disconnecting unit must have a contact separation of at least 3 mm. MCB for battery supply is placed in the standard 300 series battery cubicle. The customer has to place the "Label for disconnecting switch" beside each external switch according to IEC950. The label sheet is supplied with this manual. Before servicing systems supplied from several sources be sure that all power supplies are disconnected and internal DC-capacitors are discharged. See section 7.4. SUPPLY MAINS BATTERY BATTERY CUBICLE F1 SWITCH LOCATION MARKING OF SWITCH

NOTICE ! IMPORTANT ! The 340C to 360C types have as standard galvanic isolation between input and output. Thus it is recommended to connect the neutral wire on the output to ground, preferable to an already existing ground for the computer. Refer to local legal provisions. The 380C to 3100C types have as option galvanic isolation between input and output. The output neutral wire should therefore not be connected to ground. Output neutral wire is internally connected to input neutral wire.

Warning: This is a Class A-UPS Product. In a domestic environment, this product may cause radio interference in which case, the user may be required to take additional measures. According to EN50091-2

Communication Interface (option)
Introduction The communication interface - having 3 ports - is used when an interaction between UPS and e.g. a computer system has to be established. The main purpose is to ensure a controlled shut down of the computer in case of failures in the mains power supply. Normally the simple contact signals from port X005 is used but serial communication can also be performed via the two serial ports X003 and X004. (Protocol available on request). Also a remote monitoring can be established up to about a 500 m distance via the 20mA current loop from X004. Remote display unit is available as accessory.

External service by-pass switch (Accessory)

System in parallel without external static bypass switch (max. 4 systems). It is recommended to connect output neutral to ground (IEC364). Transformer with galvanic isolation is optional for DP380CDP3100C. E - PE connection only factory mounted in systems with isolating transformator. Please notice: Alternate mains, if used (option), must be in complete phase with the normal mains.

Switching the external by-pass switch (Accessory)
1. Switching the UPS into maintenance / service. Switch the UPS into static by-pass, as described in the Installation Guide point 6.3 (if not already in by-pass). The lamp "UPS STATIC BY-PASS ON" on the switchgear will switch on. Switch the external by-pass switch on the switchgear into by-pass position. Switch off the UPS, as described in the Installation Guide point 7. Remove the mains fuse(s) "Fm" (and "Fam" if mounted).

EMERGENCY: In case of no output power from the DP300BC, disregard above and turn the external by-pass switch into by-pass position.

2. -

Switching the UPS back from maintenance / service. Insert the mains fuse(s) "Fm" (and "Fam" if mounted). Switch on the UPS, as described in the Installation Guide point 5. Check the UPS (output voltage etc.). Switch the UPS into static by-pass, as described in the Installation Guide. The lamp "UPS STATIC BY-PASS ON" on the switchgear will switch on. Switch the external by-pass switch on the switchgear into normal position. Switch the UPS from by-pass back to normal operation, as described in the Installation Guide point 6.3.

8.0 PARALLEL OPERATION (Option) 8.1. The parallel board 8.1.1 Introduction
The parallel board establishes the possibility to connect two or more systems in parallel either to obtain increased security or to obtain higher total output power. Among other functions the parallel board ensures a correct load sharing between the parallel connected systems.

8.1.2 Control cables
The external multicable is terminated with a 15 pin SUB-D male plug in both end. Pin 1 to pin 1, pin 2 to pin 2 and so on up to pin 15 - except pin 8 which is not connected. Shield is connected to plug cover but only in one end - the other end is isolated.

8.1.3 Power cables
To optimise load sharing in parallel operation the external power circuits must be "symetrical" i.e. power input cables must have same lengths and cross-sections and the same for output and battery cables.

EMERGENCY: In case of no output power from the parallel system, disregard above and turn the external by-pass switch into by-pass position.

2. -

Switching the system back from maintenance / service. Insert the mains fuses "Fm" (and "Fam" if mounted). Switch on all the UPS's - one by one -, as described in the Installation Guide point 5. Check the UPS (output voltage etc.). Switch all the UPS's - one by one - into static by-pass, as described in the Installation Guide. The lamp "UPS STATIC BY-PASS ON" on the switchgear will switch on. Switch the external by-pass switch on the switchgear into normal position.
