Printer Management Utility for Fiery X3e 65BW-M

Welcome
Printer Management Utility is a device control utility program provided by the HTTP server built into the Fiery X3e 65BW-M (printer controller for the Digital Copier). With a standard Web browser, this utility can be used as a tool for remote control of the Digital Copier.

Printer Management Utility can be accessed directly from a Web browser. 1. 2. Start the Web browser. In the Address Bar, enter the IP address of the printer controller as shown below.

This will cause Printer Management Utility screen to appear.

2.1 Operation
Printer Management Utility operation is identical to that for Internet Web pages. Clicking a hot link jumps to the link destination, and the Back and Forward buttons scroll through pages backwards and forward. If an error message appears due to an incorrect setting, click the Back button to return to the previous page, and then try specifying the setting again.

2.2 Entering the Password
To enter administrator mode, type the password into the "Admin Password" box in the upper-left corner of the screen, and then click the [Login] button. If the correct password was entered, you will be logged into the administrator mode and the [Logout] button appears. The Printer Management Utility settings can only be changed from the administrator mode. Note that the password is case-sensitive, so be sure to type in uppercase and lower-case characters correctly. (The password you should type in here is the same as the administrator password you created with Fiery Controller.) If a password is entered, that password will be valid in ten minutes.

Clicking this logo displays the settings page for Fiery WebTools, which is built into the printer controller. For details about Fiery WebTools, see the Fiery Printing Guide.

This section contains descriptions of the information and settings that are displayed when each tab is clicked.

4.1 System Tab
On the System tab, information concerning the system structure for the Digital Copier can be checked and set. Checking and setting can be performed with the Summary, Details, Preference, Maintenance and Online Assistance menus.



Summary
A summary of the status and the system structure of the Digital Copier is displayed.

Details
The details of the status and the system structure of the Digital Copier are displayed. · Input Tray It shows the current status of all the Input Trays installed on the Digital Copier.

· Output Tray It shows the current status of all the Output Trays installed on the Digital Copier. · Hard Disk It shows the status of the hard disk installed on the printer controller.

· ROM Version It shows version of firmware installed on the Digital Copier and printer controller. · Interface Info It shows information about network interface and local interface. · Consumable It shows the current status of Digital Copier consumables.

Preference
The environment settings such as the refresh rate time and the system language can be specified.

Maintenance
The printer controller can be reset/initialized and counter values can be checked. · Counter · Reset · Initialize The total number of prints made since the Digital Copier was set up can be checked. Clicking the [Reset] button resets the printer controller. Clicking the [Restore] button restores the initial factory default settings of the printer controller.

Online Assistance (Available for HDD Option)
Enter information concerning product support and check it when necessary.

4.2 Print Tab
Use the Print tab for configuring the printer controller settings. Checking and setting can be performed with the Default Set, Test Print, and Font Info menus.





Default Set
You can use this menu to make various printer settings. · General Setting You can use this menu to make general print settings.
Print Number Set the number of copies to be printed. Input Tray Duplex Select the input tray. Specify if double-sided printing will be used. If "Simplex" is selected, the pages are only printed on one side of the page. If "Duplex - SEF" is selected, the pages will be printed on both sides of the pages for short-edge binding. If "Duplex - LEF" is selected, the pages will be printed on both sides of the pages for long-edge binding.

· PCL Setting You can use this menu to make the PCL settings for "DOS" printing.
Paper Size Select the paper size. Orientation Set the orientation of the printed page to either "Portrait" or "Landscape". Form Length Enter a value specifying the number of lines per page. Font Size Font Pitch Enter the font size (between 1 and 999.75 points, in units of 0.25 point). Enter a value specifying the number of characters per horizontal inch.

Symbol Set Select the symbol set you want to use with the font. Font Number Enter a font number.

· PostScript Setting You can use this menu to make the PostScript settings.
Convert Paper Size Specify if the paper size will be converted. Default Paper Size Specify whether the default paper size setting is in inches ("US") or "Metric". Print Cover Page Specify whether or not a cover page is printed. Allow Courier Substitution Specify whether or not the Courier font is used when the document font is not available in the printer. Print to PostScript Error Specify whether or not a PostScript error is printed.

It lets you select test print pages and execute a test print operation. You can print Configuration Page, PCL Demo Page, PostScript Demo Page, PCL Font List, and PostScript Font List.

Font Info
It shows a list of fonts built into the printer controller. · PCL Font It shows a list of PCL fonts built into the printer controller.

· PostScript Font It shows a list of PostScript fonts built into the printer controller.

4.3 Network Tab
Use the Network tab for confirming the network settings of the printer controller. Checking can be performed with the Summary menu.



Summary
The printer controller network settings are displayed so they can be checked.
Device Type Either "Ethernet 10/100 BaseT" or "Token Ring" is displayed. IP Address The IP address of the printer controller is displayed. MAC Address The MAC address of the network interface card for the printer controller is displayed.
