System Disassembly Procedure
How to open SE-800 top case: There is a screw in side this hole, it need to be removed.

There are another 7 screws on bottom case as below to be removed and then you can open the top cover.

Disconnect the cables between Top cover and Main PCB

Remove the module screws from rear panel

Remove the iron bars from the interface card.

Chapter 3.

Important Reworks

L-Type Iron frame rework instruction
This rework is implemented to the production unit's serial number after #030500466. If there is requirement to implement this for the earlier production unit, please refer to the rework procedure and part's list below:

Installation Procedure:
1. Open SE-800 top case

There is a screw in side this hole, it need to be removed.

*. Note: There are another 7 screws on bottom case to be removed and then you can open the box.

2. Remove one of the screws from rear panel as below

Remove this handle screw

1). Remove the original two screws 2). Add on the L-Type Iron frame 3). Fasten the L-iron frame together with the heat sink on power board by two new longer screws (3M x 12)

Add on the removed handle screw back to SE-800 rear panel

Add on the iron bar by 3 screws to strengthen the rear panel

Note 1. For unit's serial number #030500427 and after: The items 1) to item 8) below are ROM-A (V5.2) and ROM B (V2.1) related function, only the item 9) is Vin (V5.0) related function. You may change it accordingly. Note 2. For unit's serial number #030500426 and less do not have about function 1, 2 hardware change but there are different version firmware upgrade to improve the function as below: The items 1) to item 8) below are ROM-A (V2.2) and ROM B (V2.1) related function, only the item 9) is Vin (V2.0) related function. You may change it accordingly.

1). Enable RS-232 interface for SE-800 Front Panel Control 2). On performing an effect transition, the selected A, B channel's LED indicators on Main Source will be both turned on. 3). During SETUP the video format type for channel A, B, C, D, you may select the main source output accordingly to enable the video output to TV display. 4). Selectable DV Audio On/Off 5). Selectable AGC ON/OFF control 6). Adjustable video position (about 50 lines up or down) for external SDI overlay video.

7). Internal Chroma- Key ON/OFF control 8). Consistency A/V LED for T-Bar Cross Effect.
9). Instant Reset for individual Video Input channel. (Vin firmware related)

The sequences of Video/Audio channels were changed from A-B-C-D to D-C-B-A.

Please Note: The new production SE-800 has a 12V DC power output support on each of 4 channels 6-Pin DV input Jack, the system Serial number is from and after # 030500403.

3. The new firmware features as below:
1). RS-232 interface control (For RMC-90 or PC RS-232 interface) 2). On performing an effect transition, the selected A, B channel's LED indicators on Main Source will be both turned on. 3). Enable the main source output selection during the Input type mode selection. 4). Selectable DV audio ON/OFF 5). Selectable AGC ON/OFF control 6). Adjustable position (50 lines up/down) for external SDI overlay video. 7). Selectable internal Chroma-Key effect ON/OFF control 8). Consistency A/V LED for T-Bar. 9). Instant reset for individual video channel. (Vin firmware related) Please see below for more detail description. 1). Enable RS-232 interface for SE-800 Front Panel Control: Connect the PC/MAC RS-232 interface to SE-800 for different application. (Note: Please see section 5 for the detail RS-232 control protocol) Or connect to Datavideo RMC-90 remote control panel interface as below:

2). On performing an effect transition, the selected A, B channel's LED indicators on Main Source will be both turned on.

3). During SETUP the video format type for channel A, B, C, D, you may select the main source output accordingly to enable the video output to TV display.

4). Selectable DV Audio On/Off This feature enables to separate DV Video input source with or without DV audio Operation procedure: S1. Click on Setup button to select channel A, B, C or D S2. Select Effect: "01" and "Enter" S3. Click on the "SPD" key to toggle speed LED show "Y" (with DV audio) or "N"(without DV audio) S4. Click on SETUP button to exit and save the setting condition.

5). Selectable AGC ON/OFF control Procedure to turn Off/On the video input Auto Gain Control (AGC)

S1. Click on Setup button to select channel A, B, C or D S2. Select Effect: "02" and "Enter" S3. Click on the "SPD" key to toggle speed LED display "Y" (with AGC control) or "N"(without AGC Control) S4. Click on SETUP button to exit and save the setting condition.

6). Adjustable video position (about 50 lines up or down) for external SDI overlay video. Due to some of the SDI overlay card and CG software might have side effect to the CG overlay video position; this function enable a calibration to correct this phenomenon. Operation procedure: S1. Click on Setup button to cycle 4 channels LED on. S2. Select Effect: "01" and "Enter" S3. Click on the "UP" or "DOWN" key to adjust position. At this stage the adjusted line number will display on the two digits EFFECT LED S4. Click on SETUP button to exit and save the setting condition.

7). Internal Chroma- Key ON/OFF control Procedure to turn Off/On the internal Chroma-key function. S1. Click on SETUP button to cycle 4 channels LED on. S2. Select Effect: "02" and "Enter" S3. Click on the "SPD" key to toggle on speed LED display "Y" (Enable Chroma-Key) or "N"(Disable Chroma-Key) S4. Click on SETUP button to exit and save the setting condition.

8). Consistency A/V LED for T-Bar Cross Effect. Video LED on and Audio Off: Video effect only Video and Audio LED both On: Video and Audio effect.

9). Instant Reset for individual Video Input channel. (Vin firmware related) This feature is very useful during field application as an alternative to reset a defective channel instantly. The procedure to reset the selected video channel as below:

Step 1. Click on the SETUP button to enable the Input Format selection of A, B, C or D Step 2. Push and hold on the SUB-SOURCE buttons of A, B, C or D for two seconds, it will reset the selected

3. DV Out board Firmware IC upgrade procedure:
a). How to remove DV Output card from Slot. Step 1: Remove lower Iron Rod (two screws) Step 2: Remove higher Iron Rod (Seven screws) Step 3: Remove DV module rear panel screws (Two) Step 4: Take the DV Output card out from slot.

b). How to change the DV Output card IC Please use PLCC IC removal tool to replace this software IC

c). Plug the updated DV Output card back to system and assemble the casing power on for new features.

4. CV In boards (4 PCS.) Firmware IC upgrade procedure:
a). How to remove CV in board from Slot. Step 1: Remove lower Iron Rod (two screws) Step 2: Remove higher Iron Rod (Seven screws) Step 3: Remove CV In board rear panel screws (Two) Step 4: Take the CV in boards out from slot.

b). How to change the CV In board Firmware IC Remove 4 screws to separate the DV in board and CV In boards:

Please use PLCC IC removal tool to replace this software IC CV Input Board

Chapter 4.

Trouble shooting Guide

Trouble shooting vs. hardware module reference table
No power 1. Check the contact of power connector. 2. Move the SE-800 to a cooler location and allow the unit time to cool off before powering on again. No image at output 1. Incorrect video input format selection 2. Turn off the SDI overlay function if there is no SDI overlay device connected. Audio clipping 1. Audio input level is too high. 2. Incorrect calibration of audio input level. Frozen image at output 1. The Freeze function was activated 2. The video input source is no longer valid, or playback has stopped. Image distortion 1. The video input level is too high 2. The video quality is poor from video input source.

Error Codes on LED display after Power on SE-800
rAE: EPE: WPE: Write EEPROM error. EnE: Video encoder error. brE: Black burst encoder error LdE: Load Program error. "U" Flashing: Internal Link error Note: Please power the SE-800 off & on to reset the system if any error code is displayed on LED display RAM check error. EEPROM check error.

Step12: Install I/O modules on to system 1). Follow the Step7 to Step11 to assemble four piece of AV In and DV IN Module together and install the four assembled AV/DV In Modules on to the Input slots. 2). Install the assembled SDI Out and DV Out Module on to the output slot

Add on the Iron rod (w/rubber) and fasten the screws.

Please note two endings of the iron rod are different, make sure the direction is correct during assembling.
