5. COSMETIC INSPECTION CRITERIA
5.1 Definition of Cosmetic Standard Standard is for refurbishment inspection. 5.2 Visual Inspection Requirements Examination of the device shall be made with workbench light turned on. Ambient illumination is to be 500-1000 Lux. The inspector shall examine the device at a distance of 30cm ±45degrees. Inspection time: 2 seconds per surface. 5.3 Definitions of Inspection Defects and Areas ScratchA linear cut that penetrated beyond the surface of the material / a scratch can be felt by running your finger over it. Dot / DentA recessed spot or void in the surface of the material. Lint A linear foreign object beyond the surface of the LCD. D: Diameter/ L: Length/ W: Width/ N: Number of defects/ S: Distance of dot to dot. Area A: The front side of main unit. Area B: Alphabetic keyboard area. Area C: Five sides of device (Top, Bottom, Left, Right and Back view). Area D: Internal area covered by battery cover and internal side of battery cover.

Cosmetic Criteria Table Main unit inspection: Description Area A Criteria 1.Exposure of substratum is not acceptable 2.Scratch : L 4mm ,W 0.2mm ,N 2 (ACCEPT), S 10mm 1.Exposure of substratum is not acceptable 2.Scratch : L 7mm ,W 0.25mm ,N 3 (ACCEPT), S 10mm 3. 6. OS, GSM ROM IMAGE RE-FLASH PROCEDURE
6.1 OS upgrade trough RUU Requirement: Windows 2000/XP. Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 or above. USB Cable. Firmware. Procedure:

Boot up the device and entry WinCE mode. Select "Allow USB connections" in Microsoft ActiveSync. Connect your device to desktop or laptop via USB cable. Check the pop-up message from Microsoft ActiveSync when device is synchronized with PC.

Execute RUU program from your PC.

Read the pop-up message form ROM update utility. Click "Next" to proceed.
On the Welcome Screen, select the begin the ROM update installation

A confirmation message then appears and shows the length of time it will take to copy the necessary files (including radio image) to the device. Click Next to begin the update.
A progress bar will run through the screen during the update process. Note: In the middle of the update process, the progress bar may stop running. This is normal as the RUU is adjusting itself to complete the update process automatically.
When you see the screen below, it means update is complete. Click Finish to exit the utility. The OS update is completed.

Prepare a micro SD card and format as FAT32 by your PC. Copy image file XXX.nbh to the micro SD card and rename to Vox0img.nbh.

Put this micro SD card in your device and enter Boot-Loader mode. Press the "Camera + Power" button simultaneously and release the Power button first after hold for 2 seconds, and then the device will enter boot-loader mode.

When enter boot-loader mode and see the download message, follow the instruction on display for download process.

7. GENERIC TROUBLESHOOTING (1) Power related:
No Power / Can Not Boot 1. Charge the device or boot the device using AC adapter and check if work. 2. If Charge LED is not ON, fuse might be open, replace one. 3. If device stay in boot loader mode (Four color display), link device with PC and execute RUU. 4. Check battery connector with no damage 5. Check if LCM is connected properly. 6. Replace MB.
Cannot hold charge (low standby/operation) 1. 2. 3. Check leakage current measured should be within spec.(Refer Chapter Leakage current measurement) Ensure abnormal current measured is not caused by camera. Replace MB.
Cannot charge 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Attach AC adapter, Charge LED has no indication. Check battery connector if damage Ensure charge LED is good (not defective) MB defective Device accessory such as AC adapter, battery defective.
Cannot switch off the phone 1. 2. 3. Press power button for 3 seconds. Reset phone (Remove and re-attach the battery) Perform clear storage (all user data will be lost) by following either process 1 or process 2:
Process 1 >Power off device >Hold APP1 (Start key) + APP2 (Contacts key) + Power button simultaneously around 3 seconds, and release power button first. Process 2 In Windows mode go to Setting>Accessory>Clear storage Device will back to factory default and rebuild its configuration.
