Oki c5300n drum reset?? by Trent (9/28/04 4:17 PM) reply Is there a way to reset the drum counter on an Oki c5300n. Rather than purchase individual new drums, I bought a c5100n printer to use for parts since all parts except the processor are interchangable. I found out later that the drums, fuser, and belt transfer have a built-in fuse for counter resets that is blown at the factory during testing. Oki Tech Support says the only way to reset is to buy a new Oki part that has never been in a printer.

Re: Oki c5300n drum reset?? by rich (10/3/04 4:57 PM) reply I have a 9500 and the same problem, all 3 color cartridges go out at once. On average you can get a extra half life out of them and even more if you take them apart and recoat the roller. I heard of on person who refers to some part that could be replaced, but I would prefer a menu reset option. The key is to be able to reset that drum counter.

Re: Oki c5300n drum reset?? by moe Try this procedure, don't know if it will work on your models.

Re: Oki c5300n drum reset?? by bazzag (8/8/05 5:34 AM) reply Hi You can just put a new fuse on the drum. When you insert the drum the machine resets the counter and then blows the fuse. So if the unit is ok and you just wish to run it through another cycle just change the fuse. This means you cannot just put a full unit in from another machine as it will not reset the counter until you put a new fuse in it as you found out. This applies to drums transfer belt etc. Note with regard to refilling the toner, some printers have 2 sections. 1 where you put the fresh toner and an after collection section in the same unit. You must empty the 2nd section if you refill it more than 2 or 3 times

Re: Oki c5300n drum reset?? by Anonymous (8/11/05 9:10 PM) reply Reset the Drum Counter: a. Press the MENU 1/Menu 2 button while turning the printer on. USER MNT appears on the display. b. Press the MENU 1/Menu 2 button until the message corresponding to the drum you are replacing appears. For example, if you are replacing the magenta image drum: MAGENTA DRMCNT RESET c. Press the ENTER/POWER SAVE button. RESETTING briefly appears on the display. d. Press the ON LINE button.

Re: Okidata c5150n toner reset?? by Rick Lee (8/30/05 2:22 PM) reply The original toner cartgidge cannot be refilled. I did not know this when I refilled it. The cartridge worked great for another 100 pages until the internal counter said it was empty. The cartridge is full but it needs to be reset somehow. This is the original cartridge and there is not a flag on the end like the replacement cartridge. Does anybody know how I can use this again? Thanks

Re: Oki c5300n drum reset?? by RTINSC (11/2/05 6:09 PM) reply Okidata 51-5400 series drums will lock around 16000 pages. When you hear "clicking", drum is locked. Buy fuses on ebay for 7.00 and install before drum locks. Undo two small screws on top of drum unit (remove toner cartidge) and carefully pry off the cover. Set drum on its legs so you don't spill toner. There is a hidden hook on lower left of cover- pry open at slot just below serial number tag. Install fuse where you see two copper or brass connectors. (Starter drums do not have a fuse installed). Reassemble. Refilling toner. Buy toner on ebay (40.00). To refill, remove toner cartridge and turn upside down. Turn the blue knob so the bottom slot opens. There is a little peg near blue knob that when pushed in, allows the blue knob to turn so the toner slot opens. Fill the cartridge with new toner and close the blue knob. The cartridge is only a tank and can be used many times. Two thirds of the cartridge from the blue knob side is the tank. The third to the left is the waste tank. The waste tank needs to be emptied after about two refills. Take a sharp knife and heat it to cut a hole in the top of the cartridge (2 inches or so from the end opposite the blue knob.) Use a vacuum or turn cartidge upside down and empty. Tape up the hole. You can also cut a hole in top 2 inches from blue knob to load toner.Tape with duct tape. I do a lot of printing and can get about 8000 prints per reload. You will use less CYM toner than black. About 25000 prints on drums. If you start up printer and simultaneously holding the two menu buttons (up/down) you will get a new set of menu options. There is no drum reset item. If anyone has info about the other menu items, please let us know.

Re: Oki c5300n drum reset?? by Anonymous (1/31/06 11:45 PM) reply I think I found a way to reset all consumables (drums, transfer belt, & fuser; excluding toner cartridges) using only the menu. Thus, NO FUSES will be required--sorry all you eBay entrepreneurs, you rode this one out long enough! I was experimenting today (bound and determined to minimize my costs), and the following worked to reset all four drums on my C5300n. Hopefully, the steps work for other models as well. So, here goes: 1) Power on printer while holding both the + & - buttons simultaneously; release when "OKIUSER" is displayed. 2) Press either the + or button until "ENGINE DIAG MODE" is displayed; press the Enter button and "DIAGNOSTIC MODE xx.xx.xx" will be displayed. 3) Press and hold both the - & On-line buttons simultaneously until "ENG DIAG LEVEL2" is displayed. 4) Press either the + or button until "CONSUMABLE COUNTER SET" is displayed, press the Enter button; you are now in the menu to set various consumables. 5) Press either the + or buttons to scroll through the various consumables, at the desired consumable (ie. "K-ID UNIT ..." for the Black Image Drum Unit) press the Enter button and the last digit of the count will start flashing. 6) Press the Cancel button to decrease the digit amount or press the On-line button to increase the digit amount; press the + or buttons to move along individual digits in the count. 7) Once the count is at the level you desire (I reset mine to 50), press and hold the On-line, Cancel, & Back buttons (yes, it's 3 of them this time) simultaneously until the "*" reappears next to the count; you have reset

that consumable's count to the number you specified. 8) Press the + or buttons to move to the next consumable and repeat at step 5. 9) Once all consumable counts have been set to desired amounts that are below their end-of-life thresholds, you can use the Back, +, & - buttons to exit through the menus (reverse of steps 2 through 4) until "INITIALIZING" is displayed. 10) You're finished! Now log in to the web interface with your browser and check to see the remaining life of your consumables. Good luck! -Glenn

Re: Oki c5300n drum reset?? by Anonymous (2/1/06 10:39 PM) reply Were you able to call up any other Engine Diagnostic Levels? I came about my solution to the C5300n by adapting Oki's own knowledge base article where they gave instructions to correct a printer (C5100 & C5300n) being in Factory Mode as opposed to Shipping Mode. In those instructions, they specified a key combo to get to "ENG DIAG LEVEL3"--that being holding both the Enter & On-line buttons simultaneously until such appears on the display. I had read somewhere on the web that Level 2 was the menu I needed, so I simply started trying various key combinations and alas, the one I provided worked. From there, the hardest part was determining the correct key combination to apply (save) the new count. There has to be a key combination that will work with the 5400! Keep trying, the menu has to be hidden somewhere within. Believe me, a couple of hours spent on this is well worth the $400 or so Oki would like you to spend on new drums. Also, make sure you get "DIAGNOSTIC MODE xx.xx.xx" displayed in step 2 by pressing Enter at "ENGINE DIAG MODE". From there (and only there) was I able to press and hold the particular key combos to get into the individual diagnostic menu levels. Sorry for the lengthy post. Keep us all updated. -Glenn

Re: Worked for a c7350 by Anonymous (6/6/06 6:58 AM) reply success: Found the "ENG DIAG LEVEL4", which allows a hell lot of things: * Individual counters set * enable/disable checks * more dirty stuff 1) - Power ON printer while holding both the 0, 1, 6, 7 buttons (see above posts) until "OkiUser" appears 2) go in the menu to "DIAGNOSTIC MODE XX.XX.XX Shipping" 3) Press 3 and 2 button until "ENG DIAG LEVEL4" is displayed; 4) now you have the options up/down with buttons 2 and 6, escape with button 4 and "change value" buttons with 3 and 7 5) changing values means blinking numbers What remains and needed is, how to "save" these options. Well you've got to figure that out. I would guess a 3-button-combination... cheers

Re: Oki c5300n drum reset?? by bLiTzJoN (6/17/06 7:56 AM) reply Found this on CNET/NY Times. I'm assuming it's a factory reset for everything. Full user opinion This printer tries to force you to buy expensive replacement toner cartridges and image drums well before their useful life is over (automatically shuts down after preset number of pages). To work around these limitations, you can do the following: 1. Turn machine on while pushing and holding the TWO up/down menu buttons at same time. 2. Menu window will show "OKI USER" 3. Scroll to " Engine Dialog Mode" is indicated. Push Enter button. 4. "Diagnostic Mode xx.xx.xx S-Mode is indicated. 5. Scroll to "NV-Ram initial" is indicated. Push ENTER. 6. Window shows "NV-Ram- Initial Table 1". 7. Push ONLINE and ENTER Buttons simultaneously and HOLD for 10 seconds after you see "Executing Reset" appear in menu window. 8. Restart printer. All toner, drum, fuser and transfer figures return to 100%. Of course, if you are out of toner, you do need to refill the cartridges, but you can find refill toner and instructions on ebay (a bit messy, but cheaper than new cartridges). The drums, etc. won't work forever, but they will work longer than the artificial limits imposed by Okidata. Here's the source http://tinyurl.com/lh36z

Oki c5400n Toner Count disable. by Caelum (10/4/06 5:50 PM) reply Drum resets i've worked out, from some of the posts above, by resetting the Table 1 NV-RAM page. however, i've noticed a problem with it and toner count resets... initially it worked fine, resetting the usage for each toner to 0%, however it seems that after a while, this has stopped working, resetting only some of the toner counts, and putting the others at 95-100%. i've since found a way to turn off the toner counter all together, so that there is no warnings for 'low toner' and it wont stop and tell you to replace the toner when it is empty, however this also allows us to completely use the toner untill empty. How to turn off toner page counting on the OKI C5400n 1) Turn off printer. 2) Turn on printer, while holding the + and - buttons. 3) The LCD Shows 'OKI User', Scroll to "Engine Diag Mode", hit enter. The display shows "Diag Mode 01.02.02 S-Mode" 4) Scroll to Eng Param Set 2, Hit Enter. 5) Scroll to Toner Sensor(it may be the first one), hit enter, Change setting to "Disable" 6) To set the "Disable" setting you need to press the ONLINE, CANCEL and - Buttons at the same time, pressing ONLINE first. 7) Press the Back Button. 8) Turn off the Printer, Leave for 10 seconds, and Turn back on, as normal.

+/-

No more toner warnings... :)

Incidentally, as far as drum life goes, i've found close to a 100% increase by resetting Table 1 in the NVRAM... certainly saves me a lot of money, considering we used to go through atleast 1, if not 2-3 a month. Thanks for everyone's helpful posts, i hope mine comes in useful for others too :)

I dont have all the menus here.. but from what i've worked out, i'm sure that you can all figure what to do in certain other menus... ok.. here goes :D C7200 maintenance Menu's 1) Turn on Printer while holding the 1 & 2 buttons. 2) Using button #1 scroll down untill you see "Diagnostic Mode 00.22.00", then hold down buttons 2 & 3. 3) You now have "Engine Diag Mode Level 4" showing on the display. 4) Use Buttons 1 & 5 to scroll between menu's. Scroll down to "Counter Set". 5) Use Buttons 2 & 6 to scroll between menu items. Use buttons 3 & 7 to change the value you wish to alter. 6) The Flashing number is the value you have highlighted. Use Buttons 2 & 6 to change that value. 7) When you have made any changes you need to, hold down buttons 1, 3, and 5. The screen will flash 3 times, then an * will appear at the end of the screen. The Value has been set. 8) The "ID" unit appears to be the drums, setting these values changes the drum usage according to the printer. The Toner counts are in percentages, and can be changed from 000% to 999%, where 0% is no use, and 100% is totally used. The "Dot Count"s set how many times each colour has been used, in the life of that toner(?). The "Total Dot Count" is the same as the above, but for the entire life of the printer. The "Replace" values for belt, fuser, drums, and toners show how many times each of those units have been replaced. The Printer life limit seems like an odd one... its there to make you replace the printer after x(600000) number of prints? There are also life limits for toners, drums, fuser units, belts etc, which can be changed from the default values. The (cmyk) "ID Unit" shows how many pages have been printed that include that colour since that item has been installed. The (cnyk) toner percentages can be changed here manually, but is no use if you've turned off toner counting in the below step. 9) To turn off Toner counting: After getting into Eng Diag level 4, scroll down to "Engine Parameter Set 2". Use the 2 & 6 buttons to scroll between options. Scroll to "Toner Sensor". By Default, this is "Enable". Change the values by using the 3 & 7 buttons. When you've changed the value to "Disable" press both the 3 & 7 buttons together, and the * will appear, showing that you've set the value correctly. You can also apply the above change to the "ID Unit"s aswell, being the image drums, to stop any counting of the drum units, allowing them to be used untill image quality suffers. The above change can also be made to the "Belt Unit" and i'm guessing Fuser unit aswell.

Hope this helps a few of you :)

Oki c5300n drum reset?? - fixyourownprinter.com

C3200n Consumable Counter Set by Nono (10/19/06 12:46 PM) reply A C3200N here... I never wanted to do the NVRAM complete reset because I was scared of losing the network MAC address as mention somewhere else on this forum. And basically controlling the consumable level independently was interesting... My c3200n printer was bought last month (09/2006), guessing here that the bios may be different depending on release date (this walkthrough might not work for everyone). Sooooo, after much button pressing, restarts and coffees.. here it is: Get to the standard "Diagnostic mode" as describe on this thread: 1) Turn off printer. 2) Turn on printer, while holding the + and - buttons. 3) The LCD Shows "OKI User", Scroll to "Engine Diag Mode", press "enter". The display shows "Diag Mode 01.02.02 S-Mode" as mention multiple times on this thread. At this point you should wait for the initialization cycle to complete. I mean for all the motors and gears to have finished their noises and cycles otherwise you will end up with a LCD switching between two different info screens - not a big deal but still annoying. Now we want to go in "regist mode" by: 1) Pressing the "Online", "Cancel", "Enter", "-" and "Back" AT THE SAME TIME (not in any sequence at the same time). Yes! That is 5 buttons. 2) After within two seconds the LCD menu will show "READY". If it doesn't, release button and repress buttons again. 3) The buttons release sequence is important. So, read this before letting go your five fingers: Release the "Enter" button first and THEN the four others. LCD is still showing "READY". 4) Press the "Online" and "Cancel" button at the same time BRIEFLY. Don't wait before pressing them after the five fingers sequence otherwise you will miss your time slot. You can always switch back from the "READY" to the "Diag Mode 01.02.02 S-Mode" menu by pressing the five buttons again. Don't laugh. I know it seems a lot of gymnastic. Well I guess they didn't want the user to find that one easily. Now you see "Eng Diag Level 2" Taking from someone else on this thread (with some modifications for the c3200n): Press either the + or button until "CONSUMABLE COUNTER SET" is displayed, press the Enter button; you are now in the menu to set various consumables. 1) Press either the + or buttons to scroll through the various consumables, at the desired consumable (ie. "K-ID UNIT ..." for the Black Image Drum Unit, "C-Toner" for cyan toner, etc.), press the Enter button and the last digit of the count will start flashing. 2) Press the Cancel button to decrease the digit amount or press the On-line button to increase the digit amount; press the + or buttons to move along individual digits in the count. Note that it will not show the remaining but the usage (100% means it is empty). 7) Once the count is at the level you desire, press and hold the On-line, Cancel simultaneously until the numbers stop flashing; you have reset that consumable's count to the number you specified. Note that you may end up with a different value then the one that was entered when saving. The printer engine is probably jumping to the nearest registered/acceptable value. If someone find a way to save the exact value, let us know. Or turn printer off and on. 10) You're finished! Now log in to the web interface with your browser and check to see the remaining life of your consumables. There is another way to get to the "Eng Diag Level 2" menu I did it at one point but wasn't able to reproduce. But this method worked for me even if you may need some practice. You can also get to level 3 and level 4 after the release of the five fingers step by pressing something else then the "online" and "cancel". Good luck.

Re: Oki c5300n drum reset?? by Anonymous (10/20/06 11:17 AM) reply Nice work Nono and others. This is great stuff...especially when you know the manuf. is working you for every penny. c5400n ....... how to do it for specific firmware by Anonymous (11/29/06 9:17 AM) reply hi guys thanks to nono for the info above i've used this sequence successfully to reset the drum count on a C5400 just follow the instruction as per nono post above C3200n Consumable Counter Set by Nono (10/19/06 12:46 PM) one thing i think is happening is that different firmware revisions are changing the key sequences, hence some of them working sometimes and not others i'm running 1.03.03 and the above worked ....... so take note of the "Diag mode nn.nn.nn S-mode" as i think it is more significant than the model in some instances

Re: ReOki 9800 consumables reset code by A C Biggs (edited 12/14/06 8:09 AM) reply Can you help with the reset codes for the Xante CL30HSE? I didn't know such things existed! Our black drum is complaining! Have you managed to source cheaper toner cartridges? I have been trying the toner refill option but with dire consequences - background tinting, streaks etc. I think the make up the Xante toner is different to that of the Oki machines perhaps to take the extra heat of the fuser

Oki c5300n drum reset?? - fixyourownprinter.com

Hi Bruce Long story - but I also have the Xante CL30 - would you share those codes with me please I am getting a Fatal Error 127 - any idea what that is? Thanks Paul

Xante cl30 hse by Bloke (1/24/07 5:33 PM) reply Warning, The xante cl30 hse is indeed a an oki c9500 engine but xante have put their own circuit board in. On that basis, using oki reset codes could lock you out of the machine entirely ! Secondly, a BIG VOTE of no confidence for xante as this machine is the worst performing machine I have ever encountered in my entire life. The xante drivers and firmware are shockingly poor beyond imagination and the print quality is virtually uncontrollable. Run a job on heavy stock followed by a job on thin stock and the machine will destroy everything you print for several hours, regardless of correct colour / media settings. This so called "heavy stock convertion" is simply a new board and drivers that slow the machine down and increase the heat of the fuser. Thats all and the rest of this machine is standard oki stock and will wear out a lot faster than the oki 9500. I have spoken to Oki and they "unofficially" told me that Xante are pushing the engines way beyond their design limits. Lets face it, if the engines were designed to handle 330 gsm or even higher on the illumina then Oki would be advertising heavy stock themselves ! Yes folks, I am a very unhappy Xante customer.

Works every time when you get used to quick response required after the four buttons are released. I use one C5200N with only OKI consumables. On other I use compatible toners - some are not and destroy the drum very quickly (personal experience). Others are very good and produce similar results to originals.

Re: Xante cl30 hse by Anonymous (4/5/07 11:24 AM) reply Totaly agree!! We paid nearly £400 for training and installation, it turned up 2 days early and was left in the car park on a pallet, it took four of us to lift it in. The so called 'training' took all day and was a farce. We have had ours a year and have now replaced it because of its unreliablility and high running costs. The figures quoted to us at the time of sale are way out. We travelled to Poole and had a row with the sole importers of this machine about its quality etc, and they certainly showed their true colours!! The machines are imported from The Netherlands and re-badged. I put it to the company that they were the equivalent of a 'Pimp my Ride' firm, suping up the fuser unit, probably adding spacers to the drum units so 330gsm board will go through. We have now installed a Konica Minolta C300 Bizhub - AMAZING!! All installed in an hour and setup within 10minutes. We pay a click charge of 6p per A3 side with as much coverage as you want and 0.006p per black and white!! It has a docu-feeder, A3 scanner you can scan to fax, e-mail, or JPeg or convert documents to PDF in the blink of an eye!! The click charge includes all toners, drums, transfer belt and servicing - (Plus the lease charge of course cost of machine just slightly more than the Xante) The Xante is way out of its depth and should be avoided at all costs that also goes for the Illumina - another re-badged Oki.

Reset OKI C9500 toner. by kereru (7/17/07 9:04 PM) reply Hi Simply Dan. According to a user in another forum the reset shown below (which I use on my C7500) will also work for the C9500 printers as well. OKI think the main board is faulty??? Typical lazy help... Cheers, Neale (Bay of Plenty, New Zealand). Resetting consumables for OKI C7500 printer (and other C7000 series). 1. Hold buttons 0 + 1 + 6 + 7 on startup. 2. Press button 0 several times until "DIAGNOSTIC MODE xx.xx.xx" shows. 3. Hold buttons 2 + 3 until "ENGINE DIAG LEVEL 4" shows. 4. Press button 1 to scroll to "COUNTER SET". 5. Press button 2 to scroll through menu items (button 6 scrolls backwards) 6. To alter the value of an item, first press button 3 to select the digit to be altered. The selected digit will slowly flash. (Button 3 moves to the right through the digits. Button 7 takes you to the left.) 7. Then press button 2 to increase the value of the selected digit. Press button 6 to decrease the value. 8. When the changes have been made hold buttons 1 + 3 + 5. The screen will flash three times and then an * will appear on the right of the screen. The new value is set. 9. To leave the counter set menus, turn the printer off. NOTES: An "ID" unit is an imaging drum. The life used (shown as pages) doesn't need to be changed. Instead you change the "life limit" to get more use out of the drum. The default figure is 20,000 pages. If you are careful with your drums and keep light away from them they should easily last to 40,000 pages and beyond Each colour toner counter shows life as percentage used. So a toner showing 30% has used up 30% of its toner. 100% would indicate a near empty toner. This is the reverse of the toner life shown from the "usage menu" when the printer is in normal operation, which shows the toners as a percentage life remaining. The toner life limit default is set at 100%. Another option to use, instead of changing each toner's percentage life used (i.e. cranking back from 97% down to 87%), would be to increase the toner life limit above 100%. For example, increasing it up to 110%. In practice the OKI printers seem to fairly accurately record the amount of toner used, so an extra 10% might be all you get out of a toner. What feedback can other people offer on how much extra life they get? If you are swapping over toners or drums from another secondhand printer into your printer, it will not know they are "new" and your printer will still show the existing life values for the old units. If you know the life used in these "new" units you can go into the printer's counter set menu and reset the values so they are more accurate.

Press button 2 to scroll through menu items. (Button 6 scrolls backwards) 6. To alter the value of an item, first press button 3 to select the digit to be altered. then an * will appear on the right of the screen. A toner showing 30% has used up 30% of its toner. 100% indicates a near empty toner. The printer only estimates the amount of toner used, so an "empty" toner will still have a reasonable amount of toner inside. I suggest resetting a 100% (empty) toner back down to 90% rather than zero, and then write the reset details in felt-tip marker on the toner cartridge. You'll learn how much extra life can be gained from the toners. An important note: The toner life shown in Diagnostic Mode is the opposite of what is shown in the Usage Menu when the printer is in normal operation. The usage menu shows the toners as a percentage life remaining, so 100% means a full toner. Neale Blaymires New Zealand

Re: Re: Oki c5300n drum reset?? by Anonymous (9/20/07 12:13 PM) reply My printer was making the loud clicking noise in a new drum assembly that I had recently replaced, so i followed the instructions here: http://www.futuregraphicsllc.com/lit/articles/howard_C5400_0905.pdf and on page 71, photo #8 you can see the sort of toner transport system, it moves along that thick belt and on the very left of the picture, just under where the red blow tube meets the can of air blower the guy in the picture is using there's a little white spec.. well that spec was covered by a plug of toner that was preventing the belt from moving, and causing the click sound of the "locked" image drum... I chipped the toner cake out of there and cleaned out that area, then re-assembled the drum unit and the clicking stopped and the image drum could again turn freely. In order to expose this area of the drum, it's not really necessary to dissasmble the rest of it, just slowly pry off the plastic plate covering the gears.. you see in photo 9 that there are a number of "pressure pins" they aren't glued or anything, they're just pressed in there and with patience the plate comes off fairly easily.. just be sure to remove it evenly, as in work it a milimeter at a time all the way around evenly to avoid breaking it.

Re: C3200n Consumable Counter Set by Anonymous (10/13/07 2:35 PM) reply This worked for the C5200N. Set exact Remaining Toner Values. The Cosumable Counter reset for each toner can be reset to original / actual values (if you know what they are or printed a status page) by performing the following: Using the output from the status, perform the following calculation, (100-(%remain))=%used, then (%used/4) =%Input Value Round Down to give you more remaining toner, UP for less. Enter the printer into the "CONSUMABLE COUNTER SET" mode, then move to the proper toner to modify i.e "KToner Value", Press enter to select this value to change, use ONLINE to increase digit value, CANCEL to decrease digit value, "-" to change selected digit (or was it BACK), Input the calculated %Input Value from above. Press and HOLD "CANCEL and ONLINE" until digits stop flashing, the new value will be stored. Now, How do I modify the values for DRUM LIFE, FUSER LIFE and BELT LIFE??? I reset them to 100% remaining from a previous reset, but would like to get the proper values set. - Mr.Gadget

Re: oki c5500 reset question. by Anonymous (11/12/07 11:34 AM) reply This took a lot of button gymnastics to figure out, but I hope it is helpful to everyone with a C5500 (and it might work on the C5800 since it takes the same consumables, but not sure)... To get the OKI C5500 to keep going (without opening and closing the lid constantly) in spite of toner cartridge & drum life messages: 1) Turn off printer. 2) Hold down "+" and "-" buttons at the same time, and keep them held down while turning printer back on... continue to hold until the word "OKIUSER" appears. 3) Use "-" button to scroll down to "FUSE KEEP MODE". 4) Press "Enter" button, hold for approx. 10 seconds, then release. 5) Press "Enter" button again, followed by rapid release and repress with hold for approx. 10 seconds. 6) Release "Enter" button, then press and let up one more time quickly. 7) You will see "INITIALING" and then "ONLINE" messages. If you currently have an error message for toner cartridge life, the message will continue to be shown until after you've sent one print job, and then it will usually disappear for awhile. It will stay gone for longer if you have your printer set up so the toner sensor is turned off. If you currently have a error message for drum life, it will continue to appear, but you will still be able to print. Beware that you will have to keep a closer eye on print quality (since you are no longer relying on error message to tell you when your toner cartridges are in need of a replacement or refill, or the drum truly needs to be changed or refurbished).

Re: Re: oki c5500 reset question. by Anonymous (11/12/07 11:54 AM) reply Please note that anytime you turn the printer off, you will have to go through the whole process again when you turn it back on. It doesn't take long though, and will quickly become habit whenever turning on your printer for the day!

OKI 5200 Clicking/gear skipping Noise by billspinali (11/16/07 9:06 AM) reply Sounds like you people know your stuff, so rather than throwing out my printer, which has very little use, though I would ask for diagnosis here. Just today my printer started making what sounds like a grinding or gear skipping noise on warm up and printing. So far, it still works. Your expertise would be appreciated.

Steps for OKI C7200 maint menus/Differs with C7400 by Anonymous (11/20/07 10:56 AM) reply There is only a ONE difference on the first step and an extra bit of information between step 1 and step 2 between accessing the Maintenance Menus of the C7400 and the C7200 Printers as explained earlier: STEPS FOR THE OKIDATA C7400 PRINTERS: 1) PRESS AND HOLD BUTTONS 1 + 5 AND TURN ON THE PRINTER (WHILE CONTINUING TO HOLD THE BUTTONS). (For Oki C7200 Printers you press and hold buttons 0 + 1 + 6 + 7). **(addition information) "MAINTENANCE MENU" will appear on the screen within a few seconds. Then about 5 seconds later, "OKIUSER" will appear. ***THE REST OF THE STEPS ARE THE SAME FOR BOTH C7400 AND C7200 SERIES PRINTERS... ---> I thought that I would add some help for the next guy who also has a C7400 printer. ------> THANKS A MILLION!!! WOW!!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!! I was at my wits end trying to find a low cost image drum supplier. Trust me , They don't exist. While surfing the net, I discoverd HP laser printers could be reset, and wondered if the same could apply to OKI printers. So I decided to surf a little more and "BINGO" I came across your forum, and Glenn has the answer. I have an OKI c5100 and this technique worked beautifully. Now I'm no tech guy, but I understood everything completely. I hope this forum can help everyone who's having the same problem I had. My hat's of to Glenn and everyone else who contributed to this site. "KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK"

Re: OKI 5200 Clicking/gear skipping Noise by Anonymous (12/21/07 10:54 AM) reply My OKI C5500 does the same thing when the gears on a drum go bad. To figure out which one is causing the problem... 1. Take out all the drums 2. Put them back in one at a time, closing the lid so it will go to warm-up between each color 3. If you hear the clicking/grinding noise after placing in a color, there's the culprit! If drum was bought recently, you may be able to get whoever you bought it from to exchange it. If not, it's probably just worn out, so time for a new one.
