WJ-HD300 series Circuit Explanation

This circuit explanation is explained about WJ-HD316. (Refer to the Block
Diagram of WJ-HD316.)
The WJ-HD316 consists of 7 major circuits such as Video board, FMX board,
Main board, DLE board, ATA board, Front board and Power board.

The major operation of the each board is,
1. Video board : To convert the video input signal to the digital video
component signal.
2. FMX board: To distribute the digital video input signal to the Recording
circuit, Network circuit or Monitor circuit.
3. Main board: To control the FMX output signal to write on the HDD and
playback from the HDD.
4. DLE board: To compress the digital component video signal to write
on HDD and expand HDD playback signal to the digital video
component signal.
5. ATA board: Interface board between Main board and HDD.
6. Front board: Switch board of front keys.
7. Power board: Power supply board.



The following diagram shows the signal flow among each board.

Video Signal Flow
1. Video board.
WJ-HD316 has 16 channels video input connectors. From CH1 to CH8 have
a capability which controls a pan/tilt and lens of the combination camera
directly. As for the CH9 to CH16, any camera can be connected to it but no
capability of direct camera control.



CH1 camera signal enters to IC100 (Amplifier). The output signal from IC100
is supplied to pin12 of IC101 (Data mix). One of the output signals from pin28
of IC101 is supplied to pin8 of IC100 to be used for the loop through signal.
The other output signal from IC101 pin28 enters to pin5 of IC103 (Selector)
and to Q107, IC102 (Sync Detector). When CH1 camera signal exists, the
CH1 camera signal will be output from pin4 of IC103. If CH1 camera signal
does not exist, a dummy sync (DSYNC1) which is supplied from FMX board
will be output from IC103. The selection of either CH1 or DSYNC1 is made
by SDET signal. The selected signal is passed through Q109-Q111 then
enters to pin55 of IC170 (Decoder). In IC170, CH1 camera signal is
converted to Y, C, R-Y, B-Y digital signal (DEC1-VDATA(0-7)). It is supplied to
CN1800 to be transferred to FMX board.
In case of the direct camera control by WJ-HD316, when you operate pan/tilt
control key on the front panel, the control command (DVOUT-5V) is supplied
to pin11 of IC101. Then it is supplied to the camera through coaxial cable.
As for the other input channels CH2 ­ CH8, the processing circuit is identical
to the CH1 circuit but different Tr, IC numbers.



CH9 camera signal enters to pin1 of IC900 via Q900. The SDET signal,
which is made by IC901, selects either the CH9 or DSYNC2. The selected
signal is output from pin7 of IC900. This signal is passed through Q903-
Q905 and IC970 (Decoder) then it is supplied to CN1801 to be transferred to
FMX board.
As for the other input channels CH10-CH16, the processing circuit is identical
to the CH9 circuit but different Tr, IC numbers.

2. FMX board.
16 camera signals, which have been decoded in the Video board, are supplied
to the FMX board via CN1850 and CN1851. These signals enter to IC2300
(FMX Gate Allay). The IC2300 receives all camera input signals and outputs
the recording signal, network signal, VGA signal, monitor-1 signal and
monitor-2 signal. Also IC2300 receives the playback signal from HDD.
Actually,IC2300 outputs following signals.
1. Recording signal : The recording signal (REC1-VDATA(0-7)) to be recorded
in HDD is formed working with SDRAM(IC2301). And it is supplied to
CN2200 via IC2201 (Buffer).
2. Network signal : The network signal (NET-VDATA(0-7)) to be output to the
Network port is formed working with SDRAM (IC2303). And it is supplied
to CN2200 via IC2202 (Buffer).
3. Monitor 2 signal : The Monitor 2 signal (GC-VDATA(0-7)) to be output to the


Monitor 2 connector is formed working with SDRAM (IC2305). And it is
supplied to CN2201 via IC2203 (Buffer).
4. Monitor 1 signal : The Monitor 1 signal (OUTPUT4) to be output to the
Monitor 1 connector is formed working with SDRAM (IC2304). And it is
supplied to CN2700 via Q2701-Q2708. DSYNC1 and DSYNC2 are made


by Q2709-Q2719 (Sync Separation) using OUTPUT4 signal.
5. The playback signal from HDD is passed through the Main board then
supplied to FMX board via CN2201.
This playback signal (PLAY2-VDATA (0-7)) enters to IC2300 via IC2200
(Buffer).


3. Main board - DLE board ­ ATA board
1. Recording signal flow:
The recording signal from FMX board enters to CN1601.
This signal (REC1 (0-10)) reached to CN2302 via IC2305 (Buffer). Then this
signal is supplied to DLE board via CN503. The DEL board is designed for
the compression of the recording signal to be recorded in HDD. Also DEL
board is designed for the expansion of the playback signal from HDD.
[The DLE board has been made by the 3rd company and the circuitry is not
disclosed.]

The compressed recording signal (PDAT-REC1(0-7)) by the DLE board is
output to CN401 then it reaches to CN2303 on the Main board.
The compressed signal is supplied to IC1900 (HDD controller) for writing it


in the HDD. The output signal (ATA-DD(0-15)) from IC1900 enters to
CN1201 then reached to CN3 on the ATA-B board.
In the ATA-B board, the ATA-DD (0-15) signal is buffered by either IC3/IC4


(for No.1 HDD ) or IC1/IC2 (for No.2 HDD). After that the recording signal is


supplied to ATA-C board via CN1 on ATA-B board and CN3 on ATA-C board.


Then the recording signal (DD1(0-15) is written in the HDD.


2. Playback signal flow (Monitor 2):
When you operate the playback function, the playback signal (DD1(0-15)
from HDD is supplied to the DLE board with reverse signal flow to the
recording signal flow. In the DLE board, the playback signal is expanded
to an original signal. The expanded signal which is output from DLE board
(VPLAY(0-7)) is supplied to CN2302 on the Main board. Then this signal is
supplied to CN1602 via IC2303 (Buffer) and this signal enters to the FMX
board via CN2201. Then this signal (PLAY2-VDATA(0-7)) is supplied to
IC2300 via IC2200 (Buffer). The playback signal will be fed to a Monitor 2
Out connector to display the picture.
The output signal from IC2300 is supplied to CN2201 via IC2203 (Buffer).
Then it enters to IC1701 (Graphic Control) via CN1602, IC1704 (Buffer) on
the Main board. The output signal (CVBS-OUT) from IC1701 enters to
IC203 (Selector), then enters to IC213 (BL Mix), then enters to IC205
(Amplifier). After that the output signal is supplied to Monitor 2 Out
connector on the rear panel and Video Out connector on the front panel.


3. Network signal flow:
The Network output signal is generated by IC2300 on the FMX board.
This signal (NET-VDATA(0-7)) is supplied to CN2200 via IC2202 (Buffer).

Then it is supplied to the Main board, CN1601. After that it is supplied to
The DLE board via CN2302, IC2305 (Buffer) on the Main board.
After being compressed by DLE board, the Network signal (PDAT-NET(0-7))


is supplied to IC1900 (HDD controller) on the Main board via CN2303.



The network output signal (PCI-CTL (11-25)) from IC1900 is supplied to IC7

(CPU). [In CPU, the Mac Address and Network control circuit is installed.]
The network output signal (ETHER (0-17) from IC7 enters to IC201 (Driver).


Then it is supplied to the Network Port (JK201).


4. Spot out signal flow (Monitor 1):
The Monitor 1 output signal is generated by IC2300 on the FMX board.
The signal (OUTPUT4) is supplied to CN2700 via Q2701-Q2708.
The signal which branched off from Q2701-Q2708 is supplied to
Q2709-Q2719 to make DSYNC1 and DSYNC2. These DSYNC1, DSYNC2


will be supplied to IC103 on the Video board as a dummy sync.

The OUTPUT4 signal, which is supplied to CN2700, enters to the Main
board via CN202. After passing Q202, it enters to IC202 (Selector).
After that it passes IC212 (Sync Mix) and IC204 (Amplifier) then it is
supplied to Monitor 1 Out connector.


5. CPU control circuit
IC7 is a CPU. It controls every circuitry except DLE board.
CPU contains Network control circuit and Mac Address in it.
*IC8 and IC9: SRAM. Working memory for CPU.
*IC1003: SRAM. Memory for the front panel setting.
*IC1004: Flash ROM.
*IC1005: EEPROM.
*IC1006: Temperature sensor.

1). Front panel:
CUP communicates with IC12 on the Front panel over UART1-Tx,Rx line
between CN1604 ­ CN1(Front panel).
2). Video board:
CPU sends out PD(0-15) control signal to the Video board CN2103 via
IC1605 (Buffer) and CN1603 on the Main board. This control signal is
buffered by IC2107 and supplied to IC2102 (PLD).
The IC2101 receives SDET (1-17) (Video detection signal) from IC102,
302,...702, 901,...,1501.


SDET signal is fed back to CPU to know which input signal is missing.
The IC2102 sends out SDA(1-4) (Data) and VDAD(1-5) (Control signal) to


IC170, 270,....870 in order to decode video signal to the component
signals.
Also PD(0-15) signal is supplied to IC2015 (Camera Control Gate Alley).
IC2015 generates VD2 signal (VD20-5V) and camera control data
(DOUT-5V). These signals are supplied to IC101,301,501 and 701
buffered by IC2000,2001,.......,2007.


The IC2015 receives the camera data (DIN-5V(1-4)) (DIN-5V(5-8)) and
sync (SYNC-5V(1-4)) (SYNC-5V(5-8)) from IC101,301,.....701.
These signals are supplied to the CPU (IC7).


3). Alarm Port:
The CPU communicates with IC1002 (PLD) to distribute the chip select
command signals for the related ICs. Also IC1002 transfer the command


signal (TI0-D(0-10)) (TI0-I(0-10)) to the cross point circuit of the Alarm
and Control signals. The cross point signals are supplied to the Alarm and


Control port via CN1401.


4). RS485, PS-DATA Port:
The RS485 line and PS-DATA line are connected to each ports.
The RxA, TxA and RxB, TxB singals of RS485 and PS-DATA are supplied

to IC501 (Converter) and IC502 (Converter) through IC505/IC506
(Drivers) and IC510/IC511 (Drivers). The converter converts the parallel


signal to the serial data. The serial data (485A/485B, PSDA/PSDB) are


supplied to the CPU.

5). Audio signal:
There are 4 audio input connectors. Ch1 and Ch2 audio signals are
supplied to IC1211 (PCM Converter) through IC301/IC302 (Amplifier.).
In IC1211, the analogue audio signal is converted to the digital signal.
The output signal (PCM0-DIN) from IC1211 is supplied to IC1900 for
recording.



Ch3 and Ch4 audio signals are supplied to IC1216 (PCM Converter)
through IC303/IC304 (Amplifier).
The output signal (PCM1-DIN) from IC1216 is supplied to IC1900 for
recording.


The audio output signal (PCM0-DOUT) is supplied from IC1900 to
IC1216. In IC1216, the digital audio signal is converted to the analogue


signal. The output signal from IC1216 is supplied to the Audio Out
connector through IC1205 (Amplifier).


6). Cascade Input:
The cascade input signal is supplied to IC203 (Selector) and IC202
(Selector) for monitoring an extra camera picture.


7). Monitor (VGA) Output:
The VGA output signal is generated by IC1701 (Graphic control) to be
supplied to Monitor Output connector.


8). Copy & Extra Storage Port:

This signal is generated by IC1900 and supplied to IC1103 (USB Host
Controller). The output signals from IC1103 are supplied to the Copy
Port on both rear panel and front panel, and supplied to Extra Storage
Port as well.



4. Front board
There are many switches and LEDs on the front board. IC12 supplies the
Key Scan signal (KSCAN0, 1) to these cross points circuits. The activated
signal (SW(16-35)) (KSW(0-7)) from the cross point circuits is fed back to
IC12. The IC12 communicates with CPU (IC7) on the Main board over Tx,
Rx lines. Then IC12 realizes which button is selected.
