IBM System/360 Time Sharing System
Operator's Guide

This guide presents the basic information an
operator needs to run the IBM System/360 Time Sharing
System. The book is divided into four main parts.
These parts present a general view of the syst~Jm.
descriptions of the commands used by the operator, an
explanation of the operator's terminal, and procedures
the operator uses to run the system. Additional
information that supplements the operator's knowledge
of the system is presented in the appendixes. These
appendixes include a description of the system control
panel, a definition of the types of data set names, an
explanation of device addresses, and summaries of the
formats of the operator's commands and the TSSS
commands.
The system operator should be familiar with the
following publications:

IBM 1052 Printer-Keyboard Model 7 with IBM 2150

If he is using a terminal other than the 1052
Printer-Keyboard, the operator should read Terminal
User's Guide. GC28-2017. In addition, the operator may
keep near him, for reference. System Messages.

This is a revision of, and replaces, IBM Systeml360 Time
Sharing system: Operator's Guide, GC28-2033 7, and Technical
Newsletter GN28 3175.

Now, the operator can control system activity by using a
new command, FLOW. New restrictions have been placed on the
DROP command.

A change to the text or illustration is indicated by a
vertical line to the left of the change.

This edition is current with Version 8, Modification 1,
and .remains in effect for all subsequent versions or
modifications of IBM Systeml360 Time Sharing System unless
otherwise indicated. Significant changes or additions to
