Subject: Grinding Sound from Capstan Motor
SYMPTOM: Crunching/grinding sound coming from the capstan motor, as if bearings
faulty. Replacing capstan motor has no effect.
CAUSE: Ripple on the 5V rail, from the power supply. This 5V's goes to the
capstan drive IC, IC2101, causing the drive to the capstan motor
to be incorrect.
REMEDY: Replace C1122 (Part Number ECEA1AFZ331X) 10V 330uF cap,
and possible dry joints on plug P2001.
