Subject: Abnormal picture or sound Date: February 2, 2000


Symptom:
(133X) The following symptoms may occur:

Serial Number range 2,000,001-2,001,663

1. No picture produced when unit is operated with no signal input.

2. No audio.

3. Abnormal red color.

4. Auto wide options become invalid and the main ROM is earlier then V2.00.

SOLUTION: Replace the ROM and perform reset.


Serial number range 2,000,001-2,001,763

SYMPTOM: The following symptom may occur:

1, When playing back NTSC software on a Panasonic PAL DVD player, there is
no color output. The ROM version is early then V2.20.

Note: Color will be reproduced in forcible PAL mode

To verify the main ROM version, enter service mode and see the SET INFO menu.

Solution: Replace the ROM and perform reset.

Circuit Change Procedure:

1. Turn power ON.

2. Set initial setting status to ON.

3. To enter service mode, sequentially press (Enter) (twice), , , (Enter) from control
panel or remote controller and follow instructions of each message which appears.

4. Enter factory mode, sequentially press (Enter) (twice), , (Enter) and follow
instructions of each message that appears.

5. Enter in Device ADJUST and note values of R-VCOM, G-VCOM, B-VCOM.

6. Turn power OFF.

7. Place unit so lens faces you.

8. Remove right sides shield case on C Board.

9. Carefully replace IC5205 in main ROM IC socket with new IC.

10. Assemble unit and turn power ON.

11. Since user's data H POLARITY/V POLARITY in initial setting (SET SETTING) IS
LOST, RESET H POLARITY/VPOLARITY.

12. Turn power ON and enter service mode and factory mode.

13. Confirm that main ROM version is V2.20.

14. Read out factory setting.
Enter DEVICE ADJUST (at this moment arrow is present in sub-menu), and press
RESET key. Confirm message after reset.

Note: DEVICE ADJUST sets COLOR SYS of initial setting (SET SETTING) to
forcible NTSC.

Set COLOR SYS of initial setting (set SETTING) to: PAL, NTSC4.43, SECM, and
forcible PAL-M modes respectively and reset.

15. Enter DEVICE ADJUST and confirm values are same as those noted in step 5 for
R-VCOM, G-VCOM, B-VCOM.

16. Set COLOR SYS of initial setting (SET SETTING) to AUTO.
