Check scan coil conns for arcing/dry joints - also may be caused by Nicam module upsetting I2C bus line in turn causing line osc to lose sync - can remove NICAM module to check

Possible EEPROM corruption - press "I" and "Audio Mute" simultaneously on handset. This will put it into test mode. Another quirk of some EEPROM problems is that the set will often switch to standby when going into or out of Service Mode or when pressing "VSM Reset".
